I've been reading all the rumors about there being a Baltic cruise, I've only done the 4 night and would love to do a cruise like this. My question is, do you fly overseas and catch the ship there? I wouldn't think you'd get it in FL. :confused3 Also, does DCL provide buses or overnight stays before the ship leaves? There would be nothing worse than flying all that way and being too late because of flight delays. Thanks everyone!!

Yes and no.....if you are on the cruise that takes the ship from Florida to Europe (called a Transatlantic/repositioning cruise) then you would fly to Florida and pick up the cruise there and fly home from Europe. If you took any of the cruises once the ship was already in Europe then yes, you would fly over to Europe to meet the ship and then fly home and yes, DCL usually offers pre-night packages and transfers (for a fee).

If you took the returning cruise that bring the ship back to Florida from Europe you would also fly to Europe and get off the ship back in Florida and fly home from there.

The repositioning cruises are usually 14 or so days and have a different itinerary than the actual cruises in the Baltic (more sea days and not exactly the same ports as the regular Baltic cruise itinerary). The repos usually are in May and again in August (as in the past).

Again, all speculation until DCL releases the itineraries....

Yes, you fly to the foreign port. Disney usually offers (for an additional fee) nights at local hotels both before & after the cruise. And yes, there are definitely buses to the port. It's not quite as smooth as in FL, but it's still Disney service.

However, keep in mind Disney only guarantees your cruise if you book your airfare through them.

We are considering the Med if that's part of the 2010 offerings - & we would definitely be going one or two days in advance to ensure we get there & deal with jet lag.

Thanks everyone!! It sounds like DCL trys to make it as easy as possible, now I just need to save up some money and convince someone to go with me.

In Barcelona DCL had a number of hotel add ons, that they had arrangements with and for those 'DCL HOTELS' you could organise transfers.

AIRPORT>HOTEL HOTEL>PORT PORT>AIRPORT.

Thoose hotels were a little on the expensive side so you can organise yourself, Barcelona for example is eay ot get around and if there is a home port in the UK Southampton or Harwich they are easy to get to

What ever you do when flying over seas for cruising, ALWAYS fly in the day before. Most flights don't leave the states until the evening. Which puts you into Europe early the next morning. So say your sailing on the 7th. You really want to fly out on the 5th, so you will get there on the morning of the 6th.

I can't tell you the number of people that don't realize and will argue that flying in on say the 6th for a sailing on the 7th will get them there a day before. :sad2:

In 2007 we flew to Barcelona 4 days before the cruise. The family had a great time in Barcelona. We found a nice suite and used public transit everywhere including a trip to Montserrat.
