Ballpark # for Food Budget - Help Please....

Friends of ours are traveling to WDW for the first time this October. There will be 2 adults and 2 kiddos (5 and 7) for a weeks stay. Outside of a character meal - they don't have any reservations for sit down meals. How much should they plan for a food allowance during the stay on property (no rental car either). Thanks

There are menus under dining and they have prices as well. This is an invaluable tool in planning a trip to WDW!!

It really depends on them. They need to check out www.allearsnet.com and check out the menus. And they could also split meals at the finer restaurants for some savings. They tend to give you a lot. Some famillies of four make it on $75 a day. Others spend over $200.

I think it's very easy for a family of 4 to spend over $100 / day for food just at counter service restaurants and snack places. A "sit-down" meal will add another $50 - $100 easily depending on tastes.

Not sure how much this helps, but I'm allowing $140 a day for our family - me, DH, ds age 4 and ds age 2. We will be having one character/sit down meal each day, but my 2-yo will eat free at these.

FYI, your two year old will only eat free at buffets or other all you can eat meals, or if you feed him off your plate. If you order him a kids meal, you will pay for it.

Thanks for the heads up Crisi--I knew we would have to pay except at the buffets, but didn't make it clear in my post. Too bad though, would be great if under 3 was free everywhere, he's little now and he still eats more than one helping of everything at his meals!
