My kids want to bring back a character helium balloon each.. are they allowed on the airplane? will they be an annoyance to everyone.. lol.. I think if I put them in their luggage it will just get wrecked but I am not sure.. just looking for opinions.. thanks!

oh and does anyone know how much they cost??

I was at a gate at MCO once and a child had one, they made them deflate it. It could burst under pressure when the plane is at altitude.

I think Debbie is right. They will explode when the pressure changes. I am pretty sure you can just remove the plug and deflate them. Then when you get home take them to someplace where they sell balloons and pay a few dollars for an inflation.

We tried removing the plug so they could be reinflated when the kids got home, it didn't work well and we wnded up cutting them to deflate them (the mylar type). My sister pinned them flat to the wall in teh kids playroom when they got home.

DS was lucky enough to get a baloon creation from Andy Mation at MGM last January. It was a Pluto created from baloons. It was a work of art.

The TSA reps at MCO did tell us it would not be allowed through the gate. DS was devestated, and in tears (poor kid).

A wonderful skycap at MCO saw this exchange, and came over, and made DS feel so much better by coming up to us, and telling DS he would 'adopt' Pluto, and give him to another little boy that was just arriving on his vacation to WDW.

SO, I think the answer is no, you cannot bring inflated balloons onto the plane.

We just returned from Disney on Friday and brought 2 balloons back with us. I think it just depends on who you run into. We flew ATA and they were great. They said the balloons had to go in the overhead compartment but they wouldn't fit so they put them up front in storage and they were fine during the flight. Hope that helps.

I have been on a plane where the balloons popped. It sounds like a gun going off, please do not take them.

ATA must be liberal about the balloons...we have seen them allowed on ATA flights too. I overheard a flight attendant telling one family that it might pop. Seemed weird to me...why would they allow someone to bring on something that might explode and make a gun-like noise? I never heard them pop, though.

I think I will check to see if they can deflate 1st, I don't want to scare the people on the plane, that would not be nice!! thanks for the advice as always you guys know everything!!!
