Balloons in the parks

When I was there in with DD8 in May, she asked for a balloon, and bought it with her own money. Shortly after that, we were sitting up on the Main Street Railroad platform, over looking Main St, waiting for the afternoon parade to start. I had tied her balloon to the back of her chair. It was quite hot out, and suddenly the balloon just popped. There was nothing around it, unless it bumped against the back of the wrought iron chair, causing it to pop. I felt bad that her balloon had only lasted about 15 minutes, so I ended up replacing the $10 she had spent on it...

We buy a balloon but don't take it home with us. We usually find someone checking in with a child and surprise them on the day we are leaving. :)

This is what we do as well!! Our kids love balloons and WDW is THE place to get one. I did learn though that I have to do the gifting and not my DH. Something seems to be off putting about a scruffy guy trying to give a little child a balloon, even w/ the parents right there. ;) they never question me. :D

Ok I have now added "buy a balloon" to my list of must dos. And I have no kids. :lmao:

That's a genius idea, to deflate the balloon at the end of the week, then go get it re-inflated when you get home! Never thought of that before!!! We have always said no because of the flight home. What a great tip!

I waited my entire life to get one of those balloons, I was darn sure gonna get it home lol. Takes some time to untie the string from the bottom but it's so worth it :D

Oh, and I blew it up myself at home. Its tricky to get the ears just right.

Oh we are SO doing this this time! THANK YOU!!!!! :goodvibes

When I was a little kid, in the 1980's we always got the Mylar balloons and I would then put them up on my wall. I had quite a collection and it was room decor with a great story.

My kids have asked for balloons the past two trips and I always said no because I didn't know how to get them home. I let them Tuesday night so we have three clear mickey balloons in our room and I have no idea how to get the home lol

Does anyone know if this is the type of balloon you get when you ask for one with a special cake or dessert for a celebration? I really want one for my birthday. Yes, I'll be 27 but I want a balloon dang it!

Aw, to bad you spent money on it again. If you took it to a balloon vendor they would have replaced it.

That's a very nice idea! I think we will do that next time versus just leaving it in the room when we leave. :goodvibes

I'm guessing your mousekeeper got it from another room that had checked out but left the balloon, so nice to pass it along instead of just trashing it!

and we left ours in our room when we left so I hope that mousekeeper passed it along and kept the magic going!! :) It was still special to us, she also left us a Pluto stuffy later in the week with an even more amazing window display. She was one of our favorite memories from the trip.
