Balloons- Can you tour the park with them?

we are here right now and I have noticed that the balloons now have weights on them so they won't fly away...great idea. The only thing that bugs me about balloons is during shows some people let the balloon be high and it gets in the way of people behind trying to see.

Going this August and will be bringing my 3.5 yr old niece. I am SO excited about spending $10-20 on a balloon for her!! LOL...especially since when my own kids were little (they are teens now) it was inconceivable to spend that kind of money on a balloon. SO much easier to spend it on a niece. I am starting to understand the whole grandparent spoiling thing...I'm going to be dangerous when it's my turn to be a grandma! As it is, I am soon going to have to tell my SIL she needn't bother packing many clothes for my niece since I have already started buying princess dresses haha.

Have they not always had weights? I remember seeing 2 weights on WDW ballons, and 1 at Disneyland Paris. I've always wondered how many weights at the other parks. :)

I remember seeing at least one Mickey balloon headed skyward on our trip last year, and I can't recall seeing any weights ever. I love the idea! Do you know if the weight is like a bracelet? It would be much easier than trying to hold on to it.

That's good to know! Some balloons come with a plastic tie-off on the end that won't come off to deflate it. We tried once to get a special birthday balloon re-inflated. It tore a hole in the bottom of the balloon when we attempted to take the plastic piece off. I'll check with Party City before we leave to see if they are willing to re-inflate them. On our last trip we asked the balloon vendor if we could purchase deflated balloons to bring home. They said no, that you can only purchase the balloons inflated. If they are easy to deflate I would be more inclined to get one. Thanks!

It's possible someone else mentioned this, as I didn't read through every post but . . .

If Party City says no, try a grocery store that does balloons. Many of ours here will inflate balloons that you bring in for a small fee (I think the one I use is something like $0.49 for a 12" round balloon). I've never tried bringing in a previously inflated balloon, only balloons that I had bought elsewhere, so I don't know if they'd do it for sure do it or not. Honestly, I'm not sure they'd even ask.

I took our Mickey balloon to our local grocery store to reinflate and it flat out did not work. This was the Mickey ear inside the clear larger balloon. He has one inflated ear and one dud! Oh well. We certainly tried!

The weights are just Mickey-shaped, though it would be a wonderful idea to tie a knot to create a bracelet!

I've never been a fan of the balloons. Thankfully my kids never asked for them. Unless you have a stroller, I think they are awkward to deal with.

Plus they are annoying at the parades and even walking in the parks when they get in the way.

I forgot that I did buy one to try the balloon trick to keep the air conditioner on in the room but that didn't work so I gave it to a little girl the next day in the food court who I overheard begging her Dad to buy one when they get into the park. - I was thrilled to not be dealing with it on the bus again since I was planning on giving it to a child when I got into the park that day.

I'm sorry, I didn't read through the entire thread, so I'm not sure if this was mentioned or not. We have purchased two balloons in all of our trips to WDW (about 30 trips at this point). The first one we tied to the stroller, easy peasy. The second one, we purchased on the way out of MK. It was the only way I would do it. There was just no way I was walking around with a balloon all day long. With the MK balloons, in particular, one of the most enjoyable things for me is to simply see all of those balloons floating in the air on Main St. I think they so add to the charm and ambience of the Main St. But carrying that sucker around for the whole day is a whole different story. Not so charming. My advice. Buy the balloon on the way out of the park when you are heading back to your resort and then tie it to a chair in the room in a prominent place - it does add to the magic of the room! Don't carry it around!! They do deflate easily for packing and saving. and we still have both of our balloons.
