Anyone hire a balloon guy/face painter/clown for your childs birthday party? How much did you pay for how long? Was the party at home or somewhere else?

Thanks!!

clowns scare me...:scared1:

I had one for DD's 4th birthday two years ago. It cost me $175 for an hour and half of time, plus tip. I had to pay half up front, and the other half to the performer in cash. He performed for 45 minutes, and the other 45 minutes was the face painting/balloon animals. If you have a lot of children (I had almost 30 at this party), the performer will only be able to do either face painting or balloon animals, unless you book additional time. I think the cutoff for my place was 15 kids for both activities (balloon animals and face painting). If I had paid an additional $50, I could have had the clown for an additional half hour, and he would have made cotton candy for the kids. Decided against that one.

My DD used to make me CALL the parents of any child's party she was invited to and ask if there were going to be clowns. Or any other characters for that matter. If so, she would NOT attend. She's 15 now and still very uncomfortable in the presence of clowns.
