Balloon Flights - Question

Hi all

We're looking at taking in a balloon flight whilst in sunny Orlando....but...
My parents insurance company are saying that they will have to pay an absolute fortune (more than the cost of the balloon flight itself!!!) for extra insurance for dangerous activities!

Has anybody taken one of these flights, I'd be grateful for some information on whether or not other people have had to pay these charges.

I've questioned the ticket sellers, but they just say they're not sure, and that we should raise it with the insurance company.

Any advice would be appreciated.
Chris.

Hi I dont have an answer for your question, but when i booked my holiday recently i was asked for the first time in 4 trips if i would be taking part in any unusual activities when sorting out my travel insurance. I used Orange blossom balloons in 2002and must admit i didnt give insurance a second thought. Hope someone else will be along to help you.

We've been with Orange Blossom and I must admit we also never gave additional insurance a second thought!!

I suppose it depends how 'dodgy' you think balooning is and if you do then extra insurance may well be the way to go. Personally I'd go again without any additional cover. It really is a fantastic trip.

Don't forget they wouldn't be in business for long if they were having problems that meant they would be sued etc.

Don't know if this helps or not.

We had our balloon flight with Blue Water Balloons. Fantastic morning.

Anyway, regarding insurance - nope! Didnt think about it!!!

Many thanks for all the replies.

I've also just had a response back from Orange Blossom Balloons stating that they are fully insured and that they have a 22 year 100% safety record, so I'm thinking that we just go ahead.

I've checked with the insuarance company and their line is that they do not cover any 'aerial activities' but if OBB have their own cover we should be fine.

Also, it seems a tad cheaper ($175 pp) booking directly with OBB on the Internet rather than using one of the UK agencies, so it looks like we'll save a few quid in the process.

Thanks again
Chris.

I booked over the internet with OB and they were brilliant. A very professional but extremely friendly and funny lot. One of the best ever non disney excursions i have ever booked and would recommend them 100% if you want any additional info please feel free to ask. ali.

Orange Blossom Balloons were ace when we flew with them 18 months ago. Very good company in my eyes! Managed to take some wicked photos of the sunrise over orlando.
