Does anyone here know a area/community in Orlando called Baldwin Park? Is it as nice as it looks on the website (http://baldwinparkfl.com/)? Do you know how long the drive to Disney is?

I do not, but you might try asking on the Orlando resorts board.

edit: It says it's 21 miles to WDW AND the Google directions say it's a 48 minute trip mostly all on I-4 - I would never want to stay that far away, given Orlando traffic. That's really far.

My company has an office in that area, I've been there a couple of times. It's a nice area, I think everything is new. I kind of got a "Stepford" feel. The traffic on Colonial & I4 is bad during rush hour.

It very nice place it where the current Orlando Va is located that whole land use to belong to the navy but they sold most of it to the developer and the other part went to the Va. Their building a new Va in lake Nona and the developer hope they will sell them the land. But the Va proberly wont and keep it since it federal land so they might give it to another agency or use it them selves. Right now it to small of a hospital to handle in patient so they contract with the winter park hospital. It just a out patient hospital so when the new one come on line next year they might keep it as a out patient clinc but have nit decide well that i know of yet. They have also announced they are planning on building I think apartment which is not making the people who live their to happy. Sorry I know you just asked if it was nice place and it is aa nice place and you should visit it.

Thanks everyone!
I just received an offer for a home exchange with a family living there. I´m very tempted. It would make visiting Orlando a lot easier if we wouldn´t have to pay for accommodation nor car rental.

Baldwin Park is a very nice area, it actually looks a LOT like Celebration. However, its surrounding area is not as nice. It's about a 30-45 minute drive to WDW.

It is Northeast of Downtown Orlando. It is about four miles through city streets with lots of traffic lights to the nearest expressway. Your closest point to I-4 would be with State Route 50 (Colonial Drive) at Exit 83. The Disney Exits from I-4 are 62 - 67, so it would then be about 16 miles to the exit for Epcot Center Drive. Traffic under the best conditions would be at least 30 minutes each way. And during morning and evening commute times it could easily take an hour.

From Baldwin Park I usually take the back roads out towards Aloma Avenue/University Blvd. and get on the 417SB, then I have my choice of several routes towards Disney. You could do the 417 to the 408 to I4, which takes about the same amount of time as previous listed. You could do the 417 to the 528 to I-4, which takes longer but is the way I used for years due to traffic reasons and avoiding I-4. OR you could take the 417 the whole way to exit 6 or 3, which would take you about 45 minutes once you actually get on the 417.

The Baldwin Park area itself is very nice. You have some of the "highest" schools in Orange county. Your library is Winter Park public library. Note that there is a bunch of parallel parking in the Baldwin Park area. The Publix that is in the area is very nice, I absolutely love it. There are lots of little restaurants and businesses that you can walk to from your house if you choose to. On one side of Baldwin Park you have SR 50 (Colonial drive) which isn't the nicest area, but isn't the worst either. It's one of the main arteries of the East side of Orlando. On the other side of it you have the Aloma Ave/University Blvd. area, which has a lot of businesses/churches/schools/residences and is considered to be a nicer area.

I really miss living over there right now because everything is so close together (multiple choices, options, etc.) and where I am now (West side of Orlando closer to Kissimmee) everything is even more spread out. I have to make multiple trips/stops on this side of town. On the East side I can just go to the same area and quickly get what I need done. I just moved this summer permanently, I got married and moved in with my husband across town.

You also have the option of going east and taking the Greeneway (toll) - much easier ride than I-4 the majority of the time.
