From Baldwin Park I usually take the back roads out towards Aloma Avenue/University Blvd. and get on the 417SB, then I have my choice of several routes towards Disney. You could do the 417 to the 408 to I4, which takes about the same amount of time as previous listed. You could do the 417 to the 528 to I-4, which takes longer but is the way I used for years due to traffic reasons and avoiding I-4. OR you could take the 417 the whole way to exit 6 or 3, which would take you about 45 minutes once you actually get on the 417.
The Baldwin Park area itself is very nice. You have some of the "highest" schools in Orange county. Your library is Winter Park public library. Note that there is a bunch of parallel parking in the Baldwin Park area. The Publix that is in the area is very nice, I absolutely love it. There are lots of little restaurants and businesses that you can walk to from your house if you choose to. On one side of Baldwin Park you have SR 50 (Colonial drive) which isn't the nicest area, but isn't the worst either. It's one of the main arteries of the East side of Orlando. On the other side of it you have the Aloma Ave/University Blvd. area, which has a lot of businesses/churches/schools/residences and is considered to be a nicer area.
I really miss living over there right now because everything is so close together (multiple choices, options, etc.) and where I am now (West side of Orlando closer to Kissimmee) everything is even more spread out. I have to make multiple trips/stops on this side of town. On the East side I can just go to the same area and quickly get what I need done. I just moved this summer permanently, I got married and moved in with my husband across town.
