I am currently waiting on a BCV contract thru resale. I understand that the balcony views there arent great in general, and although there are a few rooms that have decent views, it may be pure luck to actually get them. I dont really plan to be in the room that much anyway, so its not a huge deal to me. With that in mind, Can any of you give me some resorts and room types (ie, pool view, woods view, etc) which you think have great views.

No need to discuss AKV safari views, for obvious reasons. But at this time, call me crazy, but I'm just not interested in having a zoo in my backyard: :)

Thanks,
John

BWV - Boardwalk View
OKW - Canal View
SSR - golf course/treehouses view at Grandstand or DTD view at Congress Park
BCV - I think the interior pool view is OK.
AKV - the pool view is actually nice too - very much like the pool views at VWL.

Starbox,

Thanks!! Exactly what I was looking for. I was thinking about BWV, I think boardwalk view would be pretty cool. I like the excitement of the area, too!!

The Boardwalk view rooms are less than 20% of the available rooms at the BWV. Most times of he year, owners book them up before the 7 month window opens. If you want to stay in a BW view villa, you really need to own there.

We've gotten boardwalk views in both June and July at 7 months. :thumbsup2

If you always want a boardwalk view and only want to stay at BWV - I agree that you should own there. But if Boardwalk View is something you'd like to try a few times and don't mind waitlisting or being flexible with your dates, you should be able to get that view easily on some stays during the course of your membership.

It's a really magical view. After staying at all the DVCs, we decided that BWV was not really our cup of tea, but the view is something I am very glad I experienced. I have some amazing photos of a rainbow AND a shuttle launch both observed from the BW balcony. :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

the bw view was nice. but being on the bw - well like my privacy. and although knew most of the people were not looking up.....

some did.

it felt to me - very strange. living in condo now but it is not on the street.

Need to define great view IMO, and its different to everyone. For us its right on a beach facing the Gulf, or the Rockies, maybe 40 floors up in Manhatten, something like that. Its not really a pond, a golf hole, some nice trees. That stuff can be anywhere. If we are in Orlando, its because of Disney-and a great view keeps us immersed in the magic the entire time we are there. When we are back at our room for a break, or first thing when we open the shades, even when we retire from our balcony at night. The stronger the Disney Park icon in view (and fireworks help as well), the better. Whether zoomed in with a camera, or just line of sight (especially lit up at night), it just really enhances our stay. Does it make or break it-no way, just makes it better yet.

That said, we know only a few resorts guarantee what we are looking for, and other factors can prevail (like location). We are tied with MK View at BLT and BW View, but would choose BCV if we could get lucky enough to get the upper view of SE we have had before. The TOT view side of BWV is nice-we just prefer the BW View and SE in the background. No interest in AKV views or SSR/OKW views mostly because they are not park views and are just too far away IMO. VWL is OK-just nothing like some of the others, for us.

AKV : savanna views are unique to resort staying
OKW : love the canal views and watching the different boats go back and forth
SSR: only views I like are those of DD. Really beautiful at night when everything is lit up
BLT : haven't stayed there yet, but have a MK view booked for May. Lake views look awesome too.
VWL : love this resort, but pretty much either woods or pool view (can glimpse Bay Lake through trees from some rooms)
BWV: I would say BW views are way to go. I had glimpse of TOT from our "preferred view" room but not great as 80% of the view was actually the valet parking lot
BCV : never stayed here but friends own here. Stayed at BC a couple times and BCV seem to have hit or miss views. Some rooms actually face the BC car check-in area. So all you see are the busses and cars pulling up.

I know someone mentioned not being overly impressed with anything other than a theme park view/glance. I disagree personally. We love woods/water views and find them so peaceful and relaxing (part of why we vacation....need some down time after running around the parks all day).

Have been able to see fireworks from Epcot or MK from rooms at VWL and OKW in the past. Can't beat that.

Starbox, Thanks again for the additional insight. You are correct, I'm ok with being on the waitlist, not expecting the view all of the time. Just something different to try once or twice.

Jade, you are absoletely correct. View is a matter of personal choice. A good view to me may not mean the same for someone else. I guess for me a good view would probably be of the Disney Park, Pool area, or of something I don't particularly see that often. I live on a private pond currently, surrounded by trees with lots of nature-life but not many people, so I guess a quiet woods view isnt something I really need when I'm on vacation. Maybe why I didnt choose VWL. You got me thinking, if I should factor views into my resort decision more than I had. Maybe I would enjoy to people-watch a bit, and choose BWV or BLT for the MK view. If Disney takes my contract, which I have a feeling they will, maybe I'll look for a resale there.

Thanks,
John
