Balcony situation at POFQ/POR?

Hello all!
I am trying to decide where to stay when we return to disney in 3/2008. We have 3 small kids, one which will be in a crib. When we come back from the parks and put the kids to bed we would like to have a place to go outside to sit and relax. I dont think there are private balconies at POFQ/POR but is there at least a place to sit right outside of the room w/ table and chairs? If not, are there any moderates that have private balconies?

Hi! We were at POFQ last June and really enjoyed it there. You do have room to sit outside. We never did, but there was enough room out there. Our neighbors brought folding chairs and sat outside their room in the mornings and again in the evenings.

I think your room location would have a lot to do with how comfortable you were. First floor would be bad because there's a lot of foot traffic. We were on the second floor of bldg. 2 facing the courtyard and there was very little traffic outside our door.

There is a little "indentation" where the doors are so you can sit in that little nook and not be in the way of passersby.

From my uderstanding,only the deluxes have balconys. But as previously stated there is a place to sit outside. I guess you can say the whole floor shares it . I wish the mods had balconys. Iv've stayed at Coronado and Riverside. I'll see if I can find the pictures. I know I took pictures of the outside of the room.

you would have to bring your chairs from your room and put them outside which is really an outside corridor which people walk through to get to their room.

I think being on the first floor might be better depending on what resort you are at...Some you might just be in a parking lot. At CSR you would be on grass for the most part.

If you are looking for a balcony to relax on with a moderate you can forget it.

There are pictures of the resorts over on the Allears site, just follow the links on the left hand side of the page. A few photos do show the exterior of the buildings at POR and POFQ. You can see that the "balcony" is really more of an enclosed walkway that the rooms are off of as minijeanie described.

You could ask for a courtyard view on the first floor. Those rooms are nice with the tables and chairs outside your room.

POR rooms are spread out much more than POFQ. Most of the pathways and areas in AB are covered completely by the foliage along them. FQ is a jumble of buildings very close together making for tight quarters. I would recommend POR. Now that I think about it. The 5 quiet pools at Riverside are enclosed by iron fences and open 24 hours a day. (Some of those hours require your Disney passport to enter). From what I hear those pools are the best to relax and enjoy the quiet of the resort.

We stayed at POR by the quiet pool, 2nd floor. There would have been plenty of room to take a couple of chairs outside. I don't recall seeing anyone do it, but it could be done. There wasn't as much foot traffic (unless your by the stairs) as the first floor. Now the trick will be trying to get the chairs out without waking those 3 little ones .

Personally, I would feel a bit strange sitting outside the room at either POR or POFQ but that doesn't mean it can't be done. None of the moderates have balconies - they all have the same outdoor walkways. I have only had rooms that were on the first floor at POR and POFQ, so perhaps it would be different on a higher floor...
There is a table and chairs in the room, but they are fairly big, heavy, wood things, not really meant for outside use. The thing is that the area just outside is really just a concrete walkway...not all that wide either - at least not all that wide to allow people to go by if you set up the table and chairs from the room on it.
Know also that you are going to be very tired at the end of the day after being in the parks, pool and wherever with three young children . So I'm not sure how much time you will actually spend awake after they get to sleep. Having two young boys myself, I can sympathize with wanting some down time as adults - but maybe you can find things to do inside the room after they are asleep if the walkway lounge plan doesn't work out
