Balcony or patio at WL?

Hi guys! My husband and I are considering staying at wilderness lodge this fall. I see on the threads that not all rooms have balconies or patios. From those of you who have stayed numerous times, what room/view would guarantee us a balcony or patio? My DH won't go unless he has an outddor area!

Thanks!

All rooms I believe do have either a patio or a balconey. The rooms that are on the ground floor have sliders that go out to a patio and the upper floors have sliders that open to a balconey. All deluxe resorts except for some older building in the Poly have one of the two.

Actually, all of the rooms have a balcony or patio. Rooms on the first floor have a patio area surrounded by rocks and vegetation. Personally, I prefer rooms on the upper levels, as they tend to have better views of the resort.

Regardless, you'll love WL. It is perhaps the most beautiful of all the WDW resorts.

Thank you guys so much! That will help influence him a bit! It looks like a wonderful resort!

IMHO we actually enjoyed a courtyard room with a patio. I love the higher views of the resort, but for our stay we enjoyed the easy access to the pool and other things with the first floor patio. It was great being able to walk out the patio door and just be steps away from the pool. You can always explore the resort for those other kodak moments. Here are a few photos of our room and the location.

We'll be staying at the Wilderness Lodge for the first time in June, 2008. This will be our 13th trip to WDW but our first stay at a deluxe resort.

Because it will already cost $1,000.00 to upgrade to the WL, we had to book a standard view room.

For the seasoned WL guests, I have a few questions.

1) I know that the standard view rooms are limited but, which rooms are better?

2) I think we would rather have a room upstairs instead of ground floor. Is this a good choice?

3) Any other tips or pictures?

Thanks, Lisa

Ask for a room on the north side of the building over Whispering Canyon on a higher floor. There is a very good chance that you will be able to see the MK fireworks from your balcony if you are high enough up.:thumbsup2 These rooms overlook a service area if you look down but the fireworks at night should make up for that.

we have always had a courtyard room w/a balcony. We have had rooms on both sides of the courtyard and every room we have had had a blacony with it with the 2 chairs and table. We were given a woodsview by mistake on our last trip and switched to courtyard but the woodsview had a balcony also. Our latest trip we were in room 3139 main courtyard view looking directly at the pool.

here are the pics from our May 2007 trip from room 3139

the only thing we did not like about this room was that we were far away from the lobby and did not have a rental car this time so the time we spent in the lobby was slim. It was also a bit of a walk to roaring forks unless you walked outside which is what we ended up doing. On the plus side we were a few steps away from the stairs down to the pool and close to the MK boat but i think next time we will request the other side to be closer to Roaring Forks and to get to pass through the lobby more often.
