Balconies at Poly

Most Poly longhouses are 3 stories high (except Niue which is only 2, and Tonga, which is suites). All have patios on the first floor, all have balconies on the 3rd floor. Only three longhouses have balconies on the 2nd floor - Tahiti, Tokelau and Rapa Nui. Don't be fooled by photographs, all of the other buildings have "faux" balconies on the 2nd floor and they look real in pics. If a balcony is important to you, make it your first (if not only) request.

Also don't be disappointed if you request a room with a balcony and don't end up with one, because it's nothing more then a request and there is always a chance it might not happen.

We have had one of the second-floor rooms with a slider that opens to a railing. You couldn't step out. We didn't mind. This was in the building right by the Main Lobby building - to the left if you're facing the parking lot.
We have also had a patio that was very tightly hedged in. I have seen pictures on the Dis of much more open patios.

Our one Poly stay we requested a balcony room - but didn't get one ... but we did get an amazing view of the MK and the castle! It was good!!!:woohoo:

and wanted to add: balcony or not, knockout view of MK or not ... YOU ARE AT THE POLY. It's a wonderful resort. Would love to stay there again someday.

only tokelau tahiti and rapa nuie have balconies on all 3 floors the other longhouseshave a patio on the first floor and balcony on the third no balconies on the second floor if you want you can request a balcony

Personally speaking..for a deluxe resort and the rates they charge, I expect a full balcony. We always request a balcony..or a patio. Tokelau is our long house of choice as well. I guess we've been lucky because we've ALWAYS had a full balcony.
The main reason we opt for a Deluxe resort is because we enjoy a balcony. Whether it's enjoying our morning coffee, or having a cocktail in the evening..it's an important part of our vacation.
We've been fortunate to have always had our request met. I do make sure to specifically request one,and it is the first request noted when we make our reservation. We'd be fine with a patio as well. If it should ever happen that we aren't able to secure a balcony upon arrival..I would check every day, and relocate when one became available. I have always found the staff at the front desk very accomodating.

We've reserved a garden view room at Poly. Are there any garden view rooms with a full balcony (3rd floor)? What's the worst we can expect as far as a view is concerned, i.e., if you have a parking lot view do you really see cars in a parking lot?

You should take a look at the Tikiman site. http://www.tikimanpages.com/tiki/
The site is great and goes into great detail regarding the locations of the longhouses and the views. :thumbsup2 I really think it's a must for anyone thinking of a stay at the Polynesian.
All I can add is that we always book a garden view, and request a balcony in Tokelau longhouse. Our second request is a view of the quiet pool. We've not been disappointed yet.
