I love to bake, but since it's only DH and I in the house, I usually leave it for special occasions when the whole family will partake. I do make a cake of some sort for DH's birthday and our anniversary. For our first anniversary - we'd lost our frozen wedding cake due to snowstorm/week-long power outage

- I made a red velvet from scratch. For DH's birthday this year, I made a cherry cola cake. For our 2nd anniversary, I made one of his favorites, devil's food with peanut butter frosting (and decorated it with peanut butter chips).
I like to make cupcakes for my nieces' birthdays; their favorites so far have been tie-dye and Strawberry Surprise (strawberry cake with jam in the middle). I want to try root beer cupcakes next. With my mom's help, I usually make 3 kinds of cookies and some other treats for Christmas. And just two weeks ago, I made my first-ever cheesecake, a Snickerdoodle cheesecake, that made my mother proclaim that I was now in charge of cheesecakes
Oh, and although it's from a mix, I like to make the beer bread from Tastefully Simple. I like to try different beers and sodas in them. The most recent was the multigrain beer bread made with cherry chocolate bock beer. Another hit was when I used vanilla cream soda and mixed cinnamon and sugar into the melted butter on top.
