Baking a rum cake for teachers at school...

this is the Kahluha trifle. Do the heath crunch things. they are the best!



Pound cake
2 instant chocolate pudding mix
3 1/2 cups milk
1/2 cup Kahlua
12 ounces Cool Whip




Cut half of the cake into bite size pieces and place in bottom of a trifle bowl. Make one box of pudding using 1 3/4 cup of skim milk. After pudding is made according to package directions, stir in by hand 1/4 cup of Kahlua. Pour mixture over the cake. Next, spread on half of the Cool Whip. Repeat all steps, using the rest of the ingredients.




You can add a topping of chopped Heath bar candy or Oreos, if you wish. This can also be made with low-fat ingredients.


You can buy Skor toffee chips by the chocolate chips. It's easier than chopping Heath bars ENJOY!

Isn't there a rum imitation available on the market? I wouldn't bake a rum cake, why risk it??

yes,bit it pretty nasty.
Now for the Kalua cake, you could always use strong coffe is you needed a non-alcohol version. I made a very good chocolate cake last weekend that uses coffeeRich chocolate Cake

I'd bake something else also...who knows if you will turn out to be "that mom" that they talk about LOL Most schools don't allow any food or drink with alcohol in it.

That sounds like a great Desperate Housewives episode. Bree or Lynette bake the perfect rum cake, knowing the alcohol burns out. Only there's something wrong with their oven. So while the bake part bakes up alright, the alcohol doesn't burn all the way out. All the teachers end up sloshed during the Parent-Teachers' conferences.
