Posting in mousecellaneous, but understand if this gets moved to a different board since it's not exclusive to dvc.

We're doing (pandemic allowing) baby's first birthday at the parks this winter. Does anybody know of a good local bakery that would do a custom (well, it doesnt really need to be that custom) cakes/cupcakes and delivers to properties on site? I know this is an easy google question, but if someone knows/likes a good local business that deserves the extra customer, I'd love to be that customer :-)

I'm not familiar offsite but these look cute and many people reported they are delicious.
Mickey Mouse Celebration Cakes
Order a fun and festive cake in the shape of Mickey Mouse!
  • Flavors: Choice of chocolate or white chocolate
  • Engraving Options: A special message of “Happy Birthday” or “Congratulations” is available on the chocolate ears—or choose to leave them blank—the cakes are adorable either way!
  • Size: One cake feeds 4 to 6 Guests
  • Price: $39 per cake, plus tax and gratuities where applicable (pricing subject to change); the cake will be added to your restaurant bill, and charged at the conclusion of the meal
You can add a Mickey Mouse celebration cake to a future reservation by visiting the restaurant's host podium. Requests for same-day cakes must be made in person upon arrival at the restaurant.

You could check the Facebook group “Ear for Each Other”. The group is made up of furloughed or impacted CM‘s showcasing their side hustles. sorry, no personal experience, but I remember seeing some post on birthday cakes.

edit: another option, Publix (bakery) w/ Instacart delivery

I also was going to suggest seeing if Publix will deliver a cake.

The ones Disney sells on property are too fancy-schmancy for me. Also, I would want buttercream frosting, and based on pictures it looks like there is fondant on the cakes sold on Disney property.

I don't know how many people you will have and where you will be staying, but you can always get cupcakes on Disney property. Pre-pandemic you could get them at Yacht Club quick service, Beach Club quick service, Boardwalk Bakery, gift shop on the Boardwalk, Contemporary quick service, and Contemporary gift shop. WIlderness Lodge quick service had them but was more likely to sell out. I haven't looked in other hotels but have read about them. You also could get them in at least two places at every theme park (the Starbucks place, which goes by a different name in each park, and other places as well).

I would totally recommend Ear for Each Other. Lots of rave reviews posted for cakes, and it’s a great cause.

Make sure you put the shower curtain on the floor under the baby before you let them smash that cake.
