If I remember correctly my grandmother use to make baked beans in a crock pot. She'd soak the beans the night before in a big pot, then they'd cook for what seemed like forever in the crock pot. This was my dads mom, so I have nobody to ask how....my mom never made baked beans, and the rest of her family that does, heats up bush's canned ones.

Anyone have any ideas?

I do the beans in a pressure cooker and they taste like bean hole beans........My sister does her in a crock pot and those taste like bean hole beans.....Make sure they are soaked over night either way.....and the crock pot takes at least 8 to ten hours on low or six to eight on high......test them at a shorter time ......pressure cooker is only one hour or less.........we use sweet sausage instead of lean pork.......they are delicious.....good luck
Oh beans covered with water ......molasses and hot water to mix it up good....one onion.....dry mustard, sausage pushed down in deep.....and make sure the water is covering them.......

Brandy,

My mom makes the best beans. I'll ask her for the receipe. Her beans have several different types of beans, ground beef, seasonings. YUM!!!

Here it is, straight from mom. :)

Baked Beans

2 cans Pork and Beans (Van Camp's are best)
1 can Kidney beans (or Pinto beans)
1 can Butter Beans (Bush or store brand have large lima beans), but, if you don't really like them, you can use Navy Beans.

1 pound ground beef
6 or 8 slices of bacon
1 onion (chopped)
1 bell pepper, chopped (can be omitted)
1/2 cup ketchup
3/4 cup dark brown sugar
2 teaspoons dry mustard
2 teaspoons vinegar
1/2 to 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
1/2 teaspoon Garlic Salt or 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Can bake in the oven at 350 for 40 mins or all day in the crock pot.

Directions:
Cut the bacon in small pieces and brown. Remove and set aside. In same
skillet, brown the onion and ground beef (you can remove part of the
bacon grease if there is a lot in the pan).

Add the bacon, onion and beef to the crock pot.

Drain some of the liquid off the kidney beans and the butter beans. You
can mix everything up together in the crock pot at this point. I
usually mix in the pan where I cooked the meat and let it warm a bit
before going into the crock pot.

You can taste and see if you think you need any more garlic salt, etc.
Also, I usually add about 1/4 cup of barbeque sauce when I add the
ketchup.

Thanks! I'll be trying it out on Wednesday!
