Bail out doesn't pass!

Excuse me, but to add a little reality to your world. There were up to 20 Republicans who were ready to vote yes for it, although they didn't believe in it. They were ready to vote because they were willing to place their country first instead of their beliefs. Gee. I can't understand why they wouldn't want to after Pelosi spoke :rolleyes1 .

I think she wanted this, that she is playing politics with our lives. She needs to resign. Not just from Speaker but from Congress. She is a disgrace to all America.

The cause of this crisis has many, many, many reasons for it.

Depends on how you define "reasons".

From a historical perspective, the federal government, over multiple Administrations and Congresses, has pushed a policy of increasing homeownership, particularly to minorities. Most everyone would agree it is a worthy goal, but, like with most government policies, we usually don't recognize the unintended consquences until it's too late.

I think the Republicans are being like little school children, I'm going to hold my breathe until I turn blue. Everybody knows that it needs to be passed and nothing that Nancy or anybody else said should have made them decide to just vote against it. They are hurting the American public and they are hurting their own constituents. Those constituents that will be voting AGAINST them come the election. I don't know about you, but the stock market falling almost 800 points in one day because of Republicans acting like children is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:
Where do you get the everybody from? If thats the case, then why is 50% of the public against it? 50%. Not that they are partially for it, but 50% are against it.

She had the votes. Let me repeat that. SHE HAD THE VOTES! She just had to keep her trap shut. That was all. But she is so much more important than anyone else, a real legend in her own mind. She needs to go.

And, as leader of her party, she didn't have 1/3 of her party voting for it. She allowed many who are in close races to vote against it, people that were her friends were allowed to vote against it, Democrats in close races were allowed to vote against it. The Republicans she lost were actually against it, they weren't playing politics with their votes, they were going to vote for it even though they were against it. Pelosi made a huge mistake, one that you would expect someone in elementary school to make. And I mean that, at that level. Anyone in school politics above elementary school know that if you walk in with the votes from the other side, you don't bash them and expect them to vote with you. It was absolutely stupid. She needs to go home to San Francisco and try to save the world, but get out of Congress.

..and please tell us what you think of the people who were going to vote for it but decided to stomp their foot, fold their arms and pout?

So you're saying that because Nancy Pelosi said something they didn't like, these people, the folks that are suppossed to put the welfare of the country first, suddenly decided their beliefs were more important than putting their country first? Because Pelosi spoke, their values of putting the country first, suddenly were lost? Not very dedicated to those values after all, I guess.
ummm the speech was not what caused the package to go down...it was also that Pelosi could not even get her committee leaders to vote on anything but NO....If she cant get her own top people to say yes on it how does she expect all the others to.
Take it up with the Republicans. They claimed Pelosi hurt their feeling and changed their vote.

This was one of the most important votes....if not THE biggest vote...these representatives will ever make. It was not Pelosi's job to get up and say what she did. Not the time.....not the place. Emotions were running high. The American public is against the bailout. Pelosi is not a leader.....she is a divider. Now, we see why the Congress has such low opinion rating.

:rotfl2:your funny......you have no real idea what is going on do ya.....funny :rotfl:I also find it funny how the DEMS on here are stating there is enough blame to go around yet the OS are bashing the REP with everything they got.

I am tired of the blame game....there are dirty Democratic hands in this as well as Dirty republican hands.

And those that are blaming the Republicans ONLY are being rude and unjust

The DEMS could have passed this if they all believed in this package....they have the majority in congress....there were 95 Dems that voted against it......95 ....Pelosi had 12 out of her 35 heads of commities vote against it.....:confused3

It was not just because of Pelosi either ...there was a revolt from the American people sending e-mails saying they don't want it.

So stop with the blame game......

In other words, they thought the best course of action would be to vote for the bill but decided against it because Pelosi hurt their feelings.

What happened to "Country First"?

The cause of this crisis has many, many, many reasons for it. No doubt. But the cause of this bill failing has only one reason for it. The votes were there. All she had to do was keep her mouth shut.

So Pelosi ruffled a few feathers and some decided to vote against a bill they were going to vote for and now the American public has lost $1,200,000,000,000 (that's trillion with a "T")

"Country Second, Third, maybe Fourth"?

..and please tell us what you think of the people who were going to vote for it but decided to stomp their foot, fold their arms and pout?

They must be heroes because they sure showed Pelosi and the stock market tanked.

Dedicated, ahhhh, no. But it is a catchy phrase.

If people thought it was the best course of action, they should've put their big girl/boy undies on and dealt with it. To say "Pelosi made me do it" is making the Republicans look even more pathetic and ridiculous than usual.

The republican representatives stood up against what the republican administration wanted......because they felt it was wrong. I don't think the democrats would stand against a democrat president in the same situation. This is why I don't want the dems in charge of the candy store.

Lots of cute talking points.

How about something to back up your claim that the crisis was caused by deregulation and Gramm-Leach?

Please, they ALL look pathetic and ridiculous. Both sides. It's ridiculous.
I've said from the beginning they shouldn't even be the ones drawing up this plan....they aren't experts, neither are the American people. The complexity of all this is huge and I don't trust a single one of them to have the economic expertise to come up with a plan.

Probably this (from NRO's blog):

A colleague here at the Hoover Institution spoke recently with a senior, and Democratic, member of the California congressional delegation. In the last week, she said, her office had received roughly 15,000 telephone calls, letters, and emails. How many favored the bailout?

Ten.

No, because the speaker was going to use this as a political football for her own purposes, they said no. They were willing to go far enough to vote yes when they believed no, but they were not going to let the Speaker of the House use it in as a political football to score points. And now the Democrats claim "oh, we hurt their feelings". They put a gun to their head and dared them to vote for it and now blame they because they didn't.

And what about teh 94 Democrats? What about them? They needed 10 of those to switch. 10. A little more than 10%. There is no reason why a seasoned politician as speaker could not get 10%. None.

She had the votes, both Republicans and Democrats. And she blew it.

Interesting. "Country First" became "Country Last" because some Republicans didn't want Pelosi to "score points". :lmao:

What makes you so sure this was what's best for the Country?

How about this .. Nancy Pelosi, the powerful Speaker of the House, could not get the Democrat majority, the folks who are supposed to put the welfare of the country first, to vote for a bill that needed no Republican votes to pass. That's right. Democrats could have passed this bill without a single Republican vote. Does Pelosi's failure to rally her own party mean Democrats no longer put country first?
