Hi! I am hoping some of you who have been to Nassau might have some transportation experience you can share with me. I am going to Atlantis in the Bahamas in Oct w/o my DH - earned a trip with my company. I'm a little leary of taking a taxi alone in a foreign country like that. I looked at a car service, but they want a copy of my CC and my Driver's license up front :scared1: . I may find others from my company at the airport to share a taxi with - any seasoned travelers out there with advice? :confused3

My friend (female) and I (also female) took a shuttle to our hotel when we stayed in Nassau. We booked it seperately but can't remember the name of the shuttle and it stopped at Atlantis as we were at the Holiday Inn Sunspree across the road. This was cheap and there were loads of people in the shuttle with us. If you contact Atlantis they might be able to point you in the direction of the shuttle company. Although the driving over there terrified me (seriously could they drive any faster on those narrow streets!) I didn't feel at all intimidated. Also got a taxi from our hotel to the main shopping street the one day (again the two of us did) and that felt OK too. I don't think I would have wanted to do a taxi on my own but the shuttle was good as there was a large group of us (I think it held 8 people)

We just got back last night from the 4-night Wonder and had the exact same concerns. We found a cab immediately upon leaving the building you walk through. Several other cruisers were also looking for transportation to Atlantis just like us. We took a van taxi and it held 8 people in total. The charge was $4 per person. If you walk farther down the walkway, I felt very unsure of taking one of those cabs. We had actually given up going over to Atlantis and upon walking back came upon all the other cruisers. We were so happy and it was not a bad trip and only about 10 minutes or so. Coming back, we picked up a taxi right outside the main entrance and again there were many people waiting to take cabs back to the ships to share with!

Thanks! I thought I saw that the shuttle was out of business, but I'll call - that's a good idea.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels uncomfortable with strange cabs in a strange place. Maybe the van taxi would be a good option. Why did you change your mind about getting to Atlantis?

We only had thought about skipping going over to Atlantis because we were so uncomfortable with finding transportation. We did the carriage ride and walked around the straw market and honestly, I did not like Nassau at all. Though so many people had told me to make sure to see Atlantis that we finally did in the end decide we would go. I'm glad we did. It's beautiful and huge! Unfortunately, it just downpoured outside so we did not get to see the beach area, etc. But we certainly enjoyed the casino and the aquarium and just seeing this resort.
