Hi all,
Headed to Orlando in October (18-25). I have several Darden Restaurant Gift Certificates and I am hoping to use them for a couple of dinners. Can anyone tell me about these two restaurants? I've looked at the menus online and they look fine, but I know that sometimes there are many things that don't show up on a website! Anything you can tell me would be great, and if they are fairly easy to find in the area.

We'll be staying at Windsor Palms.

Also, one day we will be going to Cocoa Beach area and I was told by someone that I HAVE to try a restaurant in that area called "Dixie Landings" or something like that. Does anyone know of this place? Supposedly has really good seafood. If not, any other great seafood lunch places in that area?

Thank you in advance!!
Dee

Bahama Breeze is the more laid-back of the two. Very colorful decor, great food, service tends to be excellent (tho I have had occasional off days). Very family-friendly. Both are on very busy roads--easy to find, but not always to get into and out of.

Seasons 52 is also easy to find, much easier to get in and out of. Nicer, more upscale--however, not particularly friendly to families with younger kids. The gimmick is that the menu changes weekly to reflect seasonal specials, and none of the dishes has more than 300 (or maybe 400?) calories. If Bahama Breeze is more fun, this is more "date night-ready."

BTW, on the coast I think you mean "Dixie Crossings." Famous for its rock shrimp. Not a seafood fan myself, but everyone seems to rave about it.

If you had to choose between the two, go for Seasons 52. Their menu changes based on seasonal ingredients. The portions are the RIGHT size. Their desserts are the BEST. You can try all of them because they come in little shot size glasses, which are perfect for tasting and sharing without overindulging.

If you are looking for a good alcoholic beverage, go to Bahama Breeze and get the Banana Nut Bread - OMG YUM. It is kind of like more of a bar/restaurant type atmosphere - kind of like Friday's or Chili's. I don't drink wine, but I do believe Seasons 52 has more of a wine selection.

I would recommend checking out both of their websites for menus.

If I had to pick one, I would go to Seasons any day, but it depends on what you are in the mood for.

Seasons, Seasons, Seasons!! It is one of our top 5 favorite restaurants, we have always had an amazing meal and fantastic service!! I just took 3 friends there the other night for dinner and they are all saying it is their new favorite restaurant.

Bahama Breeze is in the Disneyworld "neighborhood" -- just down on 535 E of I-4. We enjoy the food & drinks (especially the mojitos!) there.

You guys are great! I appreciate all of the honest feedback and it sounds like both restaurants are really good in their own ways. We will probably do both of them since I have several gift certificates that will work. It will definitely help our budget for the week! :thumbsup2

And thank you so much for identifying the correct name of the other restaurant near Cocoa Beach. No wonder I couldn't find anything about it!! I was told, as you said, that their rock shrimp is amazing... so that is what I will be trying :woohoo:

Once I'm back, I will definitely be letting all of you know of our experiences. Stay tuned!popcorn::

Thanks again, I'm so happy to get these answers so quickly!:thanks:

What are your other top 4?
How is Roy's? Ever tried it?

I thought Bahama Breeze was over rated and pricy. Wanted some tartar sauce with my fish and they didn't have any. Have to give the waitress credit, she tried to make some but just did not come close.

I have to say I don't really get all the recommendations for Bahama Breeze. It reminded me of Red Lobster or Fridays with seafood. It was fine, but just a typical chain restaurant. Maybe I missed something.

Seasons 52 is different. It is still a chain, but it's very pretty inside and the menu is different from what you'd find a lot of places. I thought the food was good. It was not very child friendly...at least not a little child.

We thought the tapas place that I hear people recommending here was fun and a little unusual. I can't remember the name. It's on the tip of my tongue. I think there's another one in Miami too.

Cafe Tu Tu Tango over on I-Drive?

Del Friscos or Flemings (both amazing steakhouses, can't decide which I like better!)
Villa de Flora (Gaylord Palms hotel)
Roy's (awesome food, and atmosphere)
Il Pescatore (a hole in the wall in downtown Orlando)

Not a fan of Bahama Breeze at all, I just never seem to be able to find anything on the menu that I like!

You can't go wrong with Season's 52. It's a gorgeous restaurant with excellent food. I think it's a bit dark at night and prettier for lunch in the daylight. The only downside is cost but if you have gift certificates....

Season's is excellent whereas we tend to use Bahama Breeze for lunch. On our last trip we found The Vines Grille and Wine Bar. Hadn't tried it before but it was excellent with lamb chops on the menu for starters.
