Hi guys,
just popping in to ask your views on bahama bay resort, have any of you styaed there and did you like the resort itself? What about distances to the theme parks? Very happy with the villa itself as i am renting from one of my best friend parents:goodvibes just not sure about location and resort itself. am i right in thinking its near to the sherberth road cut through or am i totally off the map?
thanks for any guidance as always.

Hi Claire..we spent a week there in 2006..found the location Ok..I know some people think its too far out but we used sherbeth road and were on prperty in under 20 mins. I think since then they have built a new road that makes the journey even easier.
I know we never got stuck in any traffic.
Will you be driving..are you OK on the roads?

The condo itself was really nice and we enjoyed spreading out more..kids having own room etc..but coming after a week at the CR we missed the magic a bit and the staff at BB were a bit moody and not very helpful.

But that can happen anywhere I suppose..otherwise it was a nice quiet resort..with a little beach:)

good size balconys too...when are you thinking of going?

Planning to go 10th to 24th October next year, i love food and wine and halloween party, pretty used to getting around by car so not too worried, i was in whyndham palms before which was right by formosa gardens so have used the sherbeth road shortcut, but even better if there is a new road!

i am worried about losing that magic as i have stayed onsite the last 3 trips but its time to get back out and see seaworld and universal again, and i don't remember the last time i went to premium outlets which i really love so it will be nice to go see the other stuff too this time:goodvibes Thanks for replying!

Counting down the seconds till we leave for Bahama Bay in July. :goodvibes Family of 5 with big gap between kids so needed multi room. Will be able to give you a full update when we are back!

Hi Claire,

We stayed there this past Nov for 2 weeks. Location was a little out of the way but we too used the Sherbeth Road shortcut. When you come out of the resort you can now turn left and go round the back way which saves you about 10 mins on your journey time. We didn't use any amenities in the resort, pools, restaurant, beach, fishing etc so can't comment on any of that i'm afraid! We just got ready and were out all day. It was just a place for us to sleep.
Hubby would get annoyed with me as I would be doing what I do at home i.e HOUSEWORK!! as I'm a bit of a clean freak lol!
You can pay to have a maid but at $50 a day, I don't think so!!

That is the biggest thing that we didn't like about staying in a villa/condo, having to do all the cleaning yourself when you are suppose to be on holiday.

One other thing was because we got there late on the day of arrival, we didn't check the condo over to see if everything was ok and a couple of days later we noticed a crack in the corner of the microwave door, but didn't really think anything of it as we didn't really use it. Anyhow after we had been home for about a week we had a letter off Bahama Bay stating they were charging my DH's credit card $60 for the damage!! That we didn't even do!
Dh rang them to tell them we didn't do it but they didn't want to know. So he wasn't a happy bunny! I have since read on Trip Advisor this happening to someone else. But as you know the owner then you have nothing to worry about. If we ever stay in a villa/condo again (quite unlikely) the first thing we would do is check everything. So no, we won't be booking there again.

Hope this helps,

Karina

If you can save a lot of money hun the inconvenience may be the way to go. Especially cutting the costs 3 ways. The reason I wouldnt go is 1) disney magic. I didnt like a villa when we used one in 92. 2) The house work issue, but I guess I would still be doing some at DVC, but no hoovering etc lmao. I am a lazy so and so on holiday. It all depends on what you want to do. One thing for sure is, when the kids go to bed you will be able to make the night of it back at the villa instead of a hotel room. ;)

Seen Bahama Bay not stayed there, way too far out for us. Just stayed at Windsor Hills and probably would not go there again, not too bad for Disney but to get to Universal with Easter traffic was crazy.
Much prefer being at LBV, central to everything for us. Also prefer hotel.
