BAH - Maybe someone can help? (UPDATE!)

My DH and I were married May 19th of this year. We had to wait to file with the ARMY for BAH until we received our marriage certificate/license/application (it was the 3 in 1 from FL). We received it about June 8th, he filed for BAH June 14th. His finance people told him it would take one month to kick in, ok, we had enough saved to pay for everything on our own. Well, June 15th comes, and no BAH and DH heard from a guy in his platoon who has JUST been married after us, applied for BAH after us and was starting to receive it. Flash forward to the August 1st paycheck. It should have been there, nope. DH saw the divison's financial department and the guy told him he filled out the application for BAH correctly and they'd re-file it and put a "rush" on it. Just checked DH's August 15th check, no BAH. Here's the kicker, a friend of ours who was married a week after us hadn't filed for BAH yet. They filed 1-2 weeks ago, and they are getting their BAH in the next paycheck, August 15. What did we do wrong?!?! What are we supposed to do now?!

------

Well, DH finally said enough was enough and went all the way to the top of division and talked with someone. The guy said sometimes it takes longer for some people.. and that we'd have it on the upcoming paycheck. Well, we FINALLY got it!!! Thank goodness because one of my student loans kicked in this month so we needed that money as well as to pay down a credit card. Thanks to all who listened and offered suggestions

No advice, just a  , we had a terrible time with finance during DH's last activation. The trouble started in August of 2004, and just got resolved in April of this year! Good luck!

I am here at Fort Hood also and finance on post stinks! Have you and your DH gone to your Command Financial Specialist, sometimes they can help if it starts causing financial hardship issues. If you have anymore questions please feel free to PM me, my DH is a CFS in the 4th ID.

First off Congrats on your marriage and into the military community! :grouphug:

My husband is in the Navy so it may be a little different but have you called the Armys Relief program. In the Navy it is Navy Relief obviously but I would think that they would offer you a short term no interest loan until it is figured out. I dont know if you cant make ends meat or not but it is an idea. I would figure that they would loan you the money and when he received his back pay he could refund the Army Relief.

If you are surviving without the extra income and are just frustrated that the Army is not taking care of things then I can understand. :umbrella:

Dont let this problem soar you on the military lifestyle. I have been married for 12 years and have enjoyed each duty station. Best of luck to you! :wave2:
