SO I've been hoping and wishing and waiting for a 40% code for December for what seems like forever. I got one in my email this morning, and I got SO excited, I called and waited on hold for 20 minutes, got to talk to someone, and my phone disconnected! Ugh. (Thanks, nearby airport.) SO like a good little Disney fan, I diligently called back, waited another 20 minutes, and only to find out that it's 40% off a ROOM ONLY (!!!!) reservation, and my birthday is blacked out! Gah! (So much for celebrating your birthday, right!?) So, we figured out that we could make two reservations, and hope that we could stay in the same room, but then we'd have to have the deposit we have down refunded, and we'd have to pay two more room deposits (still not equal to $200, but we'd be out nearly $400 until the refund gets credited...) and then I was like, OK, we could get the tickets elsewhere, and then the dining plan... OH CRAP.. can't get the dining plan. So ... we'd save $271, but then it's like we'd be spending well over that on yummy Disney food, so it's all just a wash.

I'm sticking with my original package and hoping for free dining! ALL that waiting for nothing!

Does anybody but me think that Disney makes this all more complicated than it needs to be??? :confused3

OH HECK YEAH! It doesn't need to be this complicated. And you'd think that Disney wouldn't refuse the guaranteed $39.99/day/adult for the dining plan!

I didn't have previous reservations, but I saved a little over $600 and was able to do the dining plan.

I saved close to $600 on my package with dining. We're staying at POR 11/29 - 12/6. It took my TA a couple days to keep us at POR, but she was eventually able to do it. Just keep trying and if you get another CM you might find it includes the packages. I got one my snail mail and the fine print said it included packages.

I got it for December 4th and 5th and the CM was adament that only the dates incidated were the discount dates. That was ok with us as we are checking out on the 6th. Our reservation was room only because we are passholders and was sent the passholder offer, but she did say we could add the dining plan if we wanted it, so that was an option (we didn't).

Sorry to hear the discount didn't fit your plans, but not all offers are one size fits all. I have several trips planned for 2009 and only one of the trips fits within the date guidelines offered. It would be nice if I could use it for my May/July/Aug/Oct trips, but will have to pay rack rate for those unless an AP is released for my days prior to checking into my DVC resort (we generally arrive Friday and/or Saturday before our Sunday checkin). As always, flexibility is the key to getting a good discount.

Seriously? So the $600 you saved was off your total package & not just 40% off your room???
