No Flames please....

I am traveling domestically and since I am a smoker I plan on buying a few cartons of cigarettes where I am going and bringing them back home. I am curios if any one knows how many carton of cigaretts you are allowed to bring with you on a plane in your suitcase. I have tried looking it up online but can't find anything. Again, no flames please I am seriously asking if anyone knows :teeth:

As long as you are stying in the US, you can fill your entire carry on with smokes if you want.

Bring them in your carry-on. My mother had 3 cartons stolen out of her suitcase when she flew from Boston to Las Vegas.

My DH was a former smoker (well i'm sure he still smokes but just doesn't tell me about it). Anyway, he always carried from cartons of cigerettes in his carry on luggage. Never a problem when we have flown domestically.

It is illegal to transport cigarettes across state lines without a distributor's license. Every state wants their share of cigarette tax. TSA usually will not do anything, but sometimes they are removed. If the state you're entering catches you with them, ouch. Is saving a few cents by bringing them with you worth the risk?

Thank you all for your replys. I am not a rule breaker that is why I am trying to find out what I can and cannot do. Like I said it my original post, I cannot find anything online or on the airline website that is why I thought to ask you all. :)

I always have a carton of cigarettes in my luggage when I travel. I've never wanted/needed to take more, so it's never been a problem for me. I usually put it in between layers of clothes though so that none of them fall out of the package mid-travel. I figure, they run everything through a machine anyway - they know they're in there.

ETA: Did some searching and I found this for you:

Cigarettes within the U.S.
How many cartons of cigarettes are you allowed to pack when flying inside the US.

Dear Vance,

I'm not aware of any restrictions on the amount of cigarettes you can pack in your suitcase for personal consumption when flying from one state to another within the U.S. If your luggage exceeds the air carrier's weight limit, however, they will charge you extra based on their rules.

For any additional questions, contact the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms in Washington, DC. Their website: www.atf.gov/tobacco/rules/index.htm.

If you are coming from another country, check Know Before You Go for regulations on tobacco products on the government's website: www.customs.gov.
