I know there have been multiple, "which bag should I get for DL?" threads. I just wanted to share what my husband and I found this weekend!

We already have a messenger bag to carry to the park, but we went home to KS for a funeral. While there we made numerous trips to the grocery store. :confused3 It is called Dillons (Kroger brand elsewhere). In the seasonal aisle, they had all sorts of thermos brand products. It looked like they were supposed to be for lunches, picnics, etc. One of them is a sling backpack that is a cooler. It says it can hold 12 cans of pop, but it is very small. We bought it (only $13) and will carry our bottled waters in it to keep them cool throughout the day. Honestly, we just usually throw a bottle in the messenger bag - it gets hot, and we survive. This will keep the waters cool and give us more space in the bag for other "needs". It is pretty small and we are quite capable of each carrying a bag. The cost will definitely be offset by saving money by bringing water in each day.

Just thought I'd let you all know in case you wanted to keep something cool while touring. It is called "Raya by Thermos". If you don't have a Kroger/Dillons it may be available at Wal-Mart or Target. With the summer months coming up - you may like a nice cool drink! :goodvibes

I was just thinking today about what kind of bag I should bring on our trip next month!! We have a Kroger/Fred Meyer so will check out their bags next time I am there!

Thanks!

We use the free disney backpack you get when you book a disney package. It works great and it is just the right size. Plus its disney!

Im a small back pack type girl, and it works wonderfully. Something like this. it works wonderfully and is not heavy at all. I pack 2 bottles, and my sun screen lip stuff, and my small poncho.cost. 12.00 at walmart.

I googled it and they carry it at Kmart too apparently:

There are also a few different styles of that bag on Amazon as well, including a couple of tote bags if you like those better than backpacks.

Thanks for the idea! I put one of the Raya bags on my Amazon Disneyland Wishlist along with an insulated Cal backpack for my husband. :)

i got the Disney small cooler bag last year it was nice an its small an the inside is like a coolerkept it all nice an cool

That is a nice bag, thanks for the link. I usually just take a Jan Sport Backpack, but we have a double stroller to throw it under. But the kids are getting older so I am always looking for new ideas!

I've never tried this at a Disney park and it will only work if you have access to a freezer, but for outdoor activities at home and when my daughter was in gymnastics in a facility with no air conditioning we used to fill a water bottle 3/4 full with water and then freeze it. In the morning we would top it off with water. As the day progresses the ice melts and you have ice cold water for a good portion of the day. You can also freeze juice pouches and boxes to keep them nice and cold all day.

is that just a sling, or does it go over both shoulders as a back pack?? if so I want one to!!! I really want a small back pack that goes over both arms!

Mine has a zipper between the two straps. You can use it as a sling, or unzip and wear it over both shoulders! Very convenient.

They do have adjustable straps - my husband adjusted for me as I have a smaller torso. The he adjusted for him. I don't know how little/big they go with actual numbers, but they were adjustable for us. I don't know if I helped at all. :confused3

I know our Target also carries them! Have looked at this several times!

I have this bag in pink. It's small enough to fit in the compartments on coasters but big enough to hold the stuff I need it to. Those mesh pieces on each side of the zipper are deep. Each one holds a bottle wihout it sticking out the top. The zipper is a separate compartment and has a little mesh sleeve for a cell phone.

The only problem I had with this one was that I had to re-adjust the straps fairly frequently. My old one wasn't as bad about that. I think it cost me about $15 at Famous Footwear.

I thought we couldn't bring in water or other food/drinks.

Also I booked a Disney package and I didn't get a free backback. :(
Where do I get my free backpack?

I bought one last year at Target on clearance for about $5 and it has been a LIFESAVER! I would have gladly paid more for it. It fits quite a few things in it and DD has food allergies so it was nice to be able to bring her snacks in it as well. It's great for traveling too!
