Ok, so. Can I split off from my party in the bag check line? ie if one of us stayed and had the bag checked and the other went through the no bag line, to get a spot in line outside the parks and hold it, would I be allowed to do that?
It's just 2 of us don't worry I'm not trying to be THAT family of 12 where one dad holds the spot until the end and then them and everyone they've ever known show up in front of you.

Won't be a problem.

People do it but I am not sure that it is good form. People tend to choose a tapstile based on the number of people already there. If they see 4 people in a queue and then each of those people is joined by another one or two, then that puts them much further back in the queue than they expected when they chose that tapstile.

I don't think its a polite thing to do personally. We split, and DH and DD go through the no bag line, but they wait for me before getting in line at a tapstyle. I don't care to push through a crowd to find them, and the people I am pushing through don't appreciate it either.

Agree with the above. We usually split bag/no bag, but the first one thru waits for the other. Typically, one of us takes kids thru no bag line, and one of us has a backpack.

It’s not a huge deal, but it does get old to constantly have people “catching up” to their group in queues. Usually it’s honest stuff like leaving line for bathroom, but more common it is someone reserving a spot, which is technically line skipping. /end soap box. /have fun!

We have this issue - I carry the backpack and DH has no bags and goes through the no bag line . He's always through before I am, and he just waits for me on the other side of the security check, and we get in line at the tapstiles together. Seems to be the preferable way to proceed.

Sure, you can split up between the bag / no bag check. But that doesn't mean the person through first should hold a place in the tapstile line. That would, IMO, be pretty rude. Just wait for your whole party to get through security and then proceed together through tapstiles.

You could also set a meeting place inside the park, after everyone is through the tapstiles. I travel with my 72 year old mother who is a much slower walker than me. I take the bags. She goes through the no-bag line and lines up at the tapstile. IF there is nobody behind her (or maybe 1 person - who I then ASK) I join her after I go through bag check. But we always always always set a place to meet just inside the park in case we aren't able to go through the tapstiles together. Plan A - tap in together. Plan B - meet at X spot in the park. Works like a charm.

I'm always the one in the bag line! We do split off, I personally think it helps shorten the bag line. We meet up on the other side of security and then all 3 of us get the tapstile lines. Not a fan of people being in the tapstile line and then others joining in.

Half the time the ones we send through the no bag line take longer than those going through bag check. What you gain by doing it won't be much and it is most definitely bad form.

This is what we do as well.
I have seen people try to push through the crowd to find their party in the tapstiles line.
Having a bunch of people join you in line seems like bad form, but it happens all the time from tapstile lines to attractions.

IMHO either meet up together before getting in the Tapstile lines OR meet up together inside the park. At the end of the day you will be spending HOURS in the park so trying to save a couple minutes by meeting in the line together after bag check just seems silly. If you want to save a few minutes then simply get to the park a few minutes earlier, problem solved.
