I'm trying to decide what camera bag to bring with me. I'd like to not bring my big camera, but I just can't do it LOL. So now I need to pick a bag. One bag, is like a large purse. It fits my camera and would have room for tons of other stuff we may pick up along the way, but it's big:

The other bag is much smaller but it only fits my camera. Absolutely nothing else will fit in it. Either bag would be the only bag we plan on bringing so we don't have to carry stuff all day.

What else do you have to carry? I'd choose the smaller bag if it's all you had to carry.

I just use an old fashioned backpack. There's room for my camera if needed, but 99% of the time it's in my hands or hanging from my Black Rapid strap. The extra lens or two I bring are in pouches inside the backpack. I would not carry a shoulder bag with a heavy camera inside all day.

I don't think we'll really need to carry anything else. The extra room would've been nice for small souvenirs, but I guess we can just have those sent back to our room anyway.

I put my SLR in my medium sized park backpack. Line the bottom with a towel for padding and keep the long lens in a case. Similar to this (thi photo looks bigger than it actually is)

Then I think the first bag is overkill. I wouldn't want to carry that all day. If it's really just the camera, then I'd go with a smaller bag. Or be brave and just wear it on a strap (keep a baggie in your pocket in case it rains).

I could never just carry it LOL. I spend all day pulling it out of the bag, and putting it back in LOL. But I'll opt for the smaller bag for the trip.

Not looking to buy a new bag (and generally not a fan of backpacks for some reason), but thanks!

You might consider something in-between. I use a cross-body bag designed for my Nikon DSLR. There's room for the camera and an extra lens, and then smaller sections for other accessories. I usually put extra batteries, cell phone chargers and a small tripod in there with room to spare for other stuff. The big advantage is that it can all be slung across my back and out of the way without being nearly s bulky as a backpack. I'm wearing it in this pic:

I would hate to carry a shoulder strap bag like that. It will hurt after a few hours and be annoying. If you don't need the space I'd opt for just the camera bag.

Ok, the more I look at it, I might want a sling bag. Which one do you have? It is my birthday this month

A lot of people carry and love their sling bags. I have one laying here unused because it does a number on my back. I think it's something about not having the weight evenly distributed.

I tend to wear all my camera bags as slings anyway. That big aqua one I wear that way. I’ve gotten pretty adept at switching shoulders quickly. But that aqua bag is quite big. Why can’t they make sling bags in pretty colors?! I haven’t found too much other than black, grey, and dark blue.

I use a lowpro backpack. Bottom portion holds your camera gear and it has a large enough top compartment to carry in snacks and such to the parks. It is not small, but it is comfortable. I am able to carry my camera, 4 lenses in it.

I have something similar to this. The bottom portion is the camera storage and then there's a zippered top portion. The top portion is great for baggies with sunblock and trip papers and stuff. I did the camera bag a long time ago and it literally cut my neck after a day or so, so I said never again and the backpack is wonderful. For rides I just put it on the floor or in my lap (rides with water) and we're good to go.

I honestly couldn't tell you the brand. My DW bought it for me a few years back as a birthday present. I'll see if I can look it up, or check for a tag when I go home tonight.
