Bad weather over the next couple of weeks?

Hi guys

Am flying out on Saturday and on a couple of other forums there have been posts that the weather isn't due to be too good over Orlando for the next couple of weeks - mainly rain and thunderstorms. I was under the impression that it always chucked it down for a short time most days but then cleared up straightaway and it was lovely and sunny but maybe things are different this year due to the recent hurricanes.

Anybody know any different? I went in July about 10 years ago and it rained everyday but we have fantastic weather and it was a welcome break from the heat!

According to the 10 day forecast on weather.co.uk, they are predicting scattered thunderstorms everyday up to 7/10, but still nice and warm (30s), so it will depend whether they scatter on Disney or not! I'm hoping not as we go Sunday week!

The weather channel was forecasting scattered or isolated thunderstorms for the last few days we were there last week. Apart from one good downpour which lasted about an hour there were a couple of light showers.

Thanks guys - I thought that was likely to be the case, just was a bit concerned when I saw the other posts!

Just been reading possibly the same threads, the forcast was generally chances of Thunderstorms and 30% rain most days. Most people confimred this is pretty much the norm. Look at it as 70% chance of no rain as one great DIS philosopher once said. :teeth:

Hi,
Here's a link to the 10 day forecast at least next Thursday looks good... :rotfl2:
10 Day weather

Take no notice of me I'm only jealous. A wet Florida beats a dry UK any day of the week..!!

Mick.

damn right!! It's really cold in London today - bet when I come back from hols I'll have to start wearing my coat to work.

Thanks for the link

I checked on the link out of curiosity and was quite amused to find a Flea Activity Forecast For Cats & Dogs :rotfl2:

Hi

We just got back yesterday. The weather has been pretty hit and miss the last week, due to the outlying storms from Hurricane Rita. We had rain every day up till Thursday but the last 3 or 4 days were beautiful - really hot and no rain at all. The thing with Orlando is that, even when it rains, it doesn't last long and it's still warm.

It was a bit of a shock to come back to almost winter weather here.

Are these long range forecasts ever right?
Last year it was meant to rain every day but we had great weather.
When we went to DLP earlier this year for 5 days and it was meant to rain every day, it rained once!
Anyway like Mick said bette wet in Orlando than cold and wet here :cool1:
Check out the ticker

We did the same 2 weeks as you a few years ago, and the weather was predicted as "hot & sunny with the occasional thunderstorm".

It started raining the day after we arrived, and rained SOLIDLY for 4 days!!

So, the weather forecast is often not correct, so I wouldnt worry.

If it rains, buy ponchos, the parks are much quieter and it didnt spoil our holiday.

I'm going next week and to be honest i dont think theres anything to worry about weather wise, when it says theres a 30% chance of rain it will either rain for a small amount of time or not rain at all, also like everyone mentioned a rainy Florida is better than a cold and wet UK anyday simply because its still warm.

My wife and I are going next week for our 1 year anniversary and we arent sure which day to go to the Mk I would rather go on wednesday just b/c I dont want to rush the trip and get the main attraction over during the second day, but with the weather...they are saying 30% on monday and 40 percent on wednesday..its not that im afraid to get wet, but I have never seen the fireworks out of the 3 times ive been in my life. Will they still perform in rain? Also does it cost extra to see them, I couldnt find much info other than its at 9pm mon, wed and friday. but thats our last day so friday is ruled out.
thanks

sorry I did a search and didnt realize this was the UK Trip Planning Forum till after I posted.

Hi Shiftgreen
Welcome to the DIS. We are a very friendly bunch on the UK boards so don't panic about hopping on. We do it all the time on the US boards :rotfl:
Re the fireworks, they are part of the Disney experience so they are included in the price. Just watch out though for the day that you are planning to go that it isn't a day when Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party falls on as the park will close for those without a ticket for the party at 6pm. Check out the October hours on the boards for more info. I have been in the height of Summer when it has rained for most of the day and I can't remember never having fireworks. :umbrella:
Don't panic about the weather just enjoy your first anniversary with your wife :lovestruc

thanks for the info. The halloween party is on tuesday and thursday while we are down there so Monday or wednesday I could do..however, on wednesday it says extra park hours... now does that mean I would have to pay to see the fireworks or do I have to pay to stay later than 9pm ?
thanks again

No these are Extra Magic Hours and only available to those staying in a WDW Hotel. It also means they are very busy at this time so watch out for this.
Otherwise the fireworks should still be on on the other nights.
