I may not be able to have a Disney Wedding after all! :sad1: I don't think we can afford one!!! So if anyone has tips on cost cutting I would LOVE!! to hear them. I want a DW so bad!! I'll appreciate anything!!

I'm so sorry!! Were you going to have a custom or an intimate? You could always have a disney themed wedding w/o actually being in Disney. The best cost-saving tip I've seen so far is cutting the guests list.

I'm sorry to hear you can't have one. I went through about the same thing. I am still having my disney wedding at home though. All of the people here have been great about incorporating Disney theme. Cake, flowers. Or just try to do a basic Intimate. With no extras. I just couldnt leave all the family out.

You can do the intimate with just close family/friends. It's still beautiful and magical. Then, afterwards have a nice dinner somewhere. Disney has amazing restaurants. Plus, you can make a group vacation out of it. We're having an intimate, but we'll be spending $12,000-$14,000. I just do not have enough people to justify a custom. Plus, I would never be able to fill all those rooms since my brother and sister live less than an hour from Orlando and make up 1/2 of my guest list. We're doing the safari, the boys are doing bass fishing, we girls are doing the perfectly princess tea party with my daughter, we're going to see Illuminations, we're going to see the Christmas parade, we're going to do a scavanger hunt, and we're going to have an amazing dinner after the actual wedding. If you want to do a custom, you are allowed to get flowers and photography elsewhere. Disney's are very pricey. I know people have mentioned Taz and Randy Chapman for photography. If you get everything from Disney, you can go over the $10,000 weekday amount very easily. You could even do your own flowers. I am making crystal bouquets. Plus, with the intimate, you can add things like the wedding pavilion and the carriage of you want. My idea was to do the intimate and then spend money on things for my family and friends to make it special and fun. I'd rather pay for everyone to go on the grand gatherings safari than pay Disney for rooms I couldn't book.

The more I look at at the Intimates, the more I like them. As much as I wish I could do the custom, I would rather have a small DW than not have one at all. Thanks everyone for everything!! :bounce:

We're having an intimate and you won't regret it. I didn't realize how much choices you still have with an intimate. Yes, some of the options are additional money, but there are still plenty of things that are included that you must decide on. Plus, you'll only have the people that matter most attending, making it that much more special!

For the custom, I guess it really depends on how much you want to spend and how many people you have. Ours had about 50 people, and we almost doubled the cost of our min. That was without photos and videography, and travel, makeup, dress, etc. We also had park locations. I can try and help you cut things if you wanted to look at a custom. I got really really good at it. Know though that the min is the base price and you are going to have an EXTREMELY difficult time doing your wedding for that. But then again, it really depends on how many people you invite. Our immediate family was too much for an intimate so we had to go custom. If you don't want to spend the 10k, then the intimate is the definate way to go and there are some great upgrades you can do.

If I can help, let me know!!

even though you can't do everything you might want to with an intimate (like you can with a custom), the options they do offer are very reasonably priced and still somewhat flexible. you can add, or not add, as many "extras" as you want. but "reasonably priced" is also relative, and depends on what wedding expenses are like where you live.

your wedding is also quite some time away so maybe you could save a bit of extra money to put toward a DFTW?? it would definitely be worth it if it's what you really want to do.

and if you have a very small intimate wedding at disney, you may be able to also have a "reception" back home in order to celebrate with those who couldn't make the trip.

i truly hope you can have your disney dream wedding! there are so many ways to figure out how to make it happen. we will do our best to help you all along the way!
