The When:
14th October to 30th October 2011
The Why:
We have all known each other quite some time now. Tony, Theresa and Joh met at a DIS meet in March 2005
Then Joh and Natalie met. Im sure you all know the story by now.
It was only a matter of time before we all became firm friends.
Over the past five years, we have met up on a number of occasions and even taken trips together.
Heres Gary, Joh, Tony and me enjoying a cocktail or two on an RCI two night cruise to Belgium.
And here we are making ourselves comfy on another two night cruise to Amsterdam.
Heres Nat and Joh, Florida 2009
Ellie, Matthew and Daniel with Alice in 2009
Gary, Tony, me, Nat and Matthew on a day out to Chessington World of Adventures.
Me, Nat and Joh at Chilly's wedding reception with the first of those now infamous cocktails!
Im not quite sure exactly how Tony and I came to Gatecrash the others holiday. I think we had just come back from Orlando with my sister and her family and were a bit hyped up and eager to book another holiday as soon as possible. Then when Joh mentioned they were going on a Disney Cruise and that Disney Cruises were definitely NOT just for kids, well that was that. In a blink of an eye, our first Disney cruise was booked and we were searching for cheap flights.
The What:
7/8 days in Orlando, followed by a 7-night Eastern Caribbean Cruise on the Disney Magic. Our itinerary looks like this
Fri 14th October Tony and Theresa fly to Miami, drive to Orlando and check in to Sheraton Vistana. The rest of the group will be spending the night at the Hilton, Gatwick ready for our flight the next day
Sat 15th October Tony and Theresa will be fitting in some shopping while the others fly to Orlando and check in to Villas at Wilderness Lodge
Sun 16th October Our holiday gets off to a great start when we all meet at Cracker Barrel for breakfast, followed by a day at Busch Gardens and dinner at Mannys Chophouse
Mon 17th October Magic Kingdom evening EMH today so we plan to make the most of it and stay as late as we can. We will also pop to Uno Chicagos for an early dinner.
Tue 18th October after a late night, we are hoping for a fairly relaxing day at Sea World. Dinner tonight is at T-Rex.
Wed 19th October EMH at Epcot tonight. We will spend the morning at Future World, have lunch at Beaches and Cream, followed by an afternoon chilling by the pool. We will return to Epcot in the evening to drink our way around World Showcase.
Thu 20th October Today we are parting company for a little while. Nat and her kids are off to Universal as they all really want to ride Rip Ride Rockit. The rest of us will be heading to Aquatica for a relaxing day. Dinner tonight will be at Friendlys, one of our favourites and a must do every trip!
Fri 21st October Tony and Theresa are heading to Madeira Beach to visit some friends while the rest will spend the day at Islands of Adventure. The two boys cant wait to see Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Dinner tonight will be at Chilis, then we will head off to the Boardwalk to meet up with some good friends, Kat (TigerKat) and her DH, Johnny
Sat 22nd October We will start the day with breakfast at Wolfgang Puck Express, before driving to Port Canaveral to board the Disney Magic! Today is cruising day!!!
Sun23rd October A day at sea. We are eating at Palo tonight, which the adults are very much looking forward to.
Mon 24th October Our second sea day kicks off with brunch at Palo (we are hoping we may be able to get the private dining room so we can eat with some fellow Dis cruisers)
Tue 25th October St Maarten. We are going to take a tour of the island and hope to visit Maho beach to watch the planes coming in.
Wed 26th October St Thomas. No big plans here but we will take the Skyride up to Paradise Point and admire the view
Thu 27th October Another sea day, which will mostly be spent relaxing
Fri 28th October Castaway Cay. The adults will head to Serenity Bay while the kids enjoy the clubs in the morning, before an afternoon spent on the family beach. We also have a meet arranged with some friends at the Conched Out bar.
Sat 29th October A sad day as we arrive back at Port Canaveral. Its not over yet though and we will be heading back to WDW as fast as our rental cars can carry us to enjoy our last couple of days. Tony and Theresa will be checking into the Beach Club Villas for one night (yay, can't believe we got this -thanks Tam and Kev).
Sun 30th October Tony and Theresa will be leaving this morning, to drive back to Miami and fly home. The rest of the group are spending the day at Hollywood Studios before their flight home in the evening
We also discovered, during the planning stages, that, despite having amassed a total of 50 trips between us all, there are still things that we have not yet seen or done (or in some cases, deliberately avoided). And so each family has a family challenge - an attraction that they HAVE to experience during the course of the trip:
Nat, Ellie and Matthew Captain EO
Tony and Theresa Country Bears Jamboree
Gary, Joh and Daniel Hall of Presidents
So that's it. To say we are excited is an understatement. We talk almost daily about it! We are beyond excited! Can't wait.
