We got up and showered and had coffee out on our balcony and then checked out of the Beach Club around 9.30. We liked the atmosphere of the Beach Club and will definitely stay there again one day.

Joh, Gary, Daniel, Nat, Matthew and Ellie all spent their last day at Hollywood Studios as they had most of the day free before catching their flight home from MCO.

Tony and I were flying out of Miami so only had a scant half day. We drove down to Kissimmee Mainstreet, intending to look around the shops, but as we suspected, nothing was open as it was Sunday, so drove up to The Loop instead and had a look around a few shops before grabbing an early lunch at Mimi’s Cafe. We shared crab fritters to start with and both chose the turkey dinner which was lovely, followed by Mimi’s bread pudding with whisky sauce which was scrumptious.

Sadly, it was time to head back down to Miami for our flight home. We did the journey in about three and a half hours without bothering to stop.
The sat-nav was excellent and took us straight there. We were pleased we had it as we met a welsh couple who had just spent 1 ½ hours driving around trying to find the airport.:scared1:

We checked in then had coffee and do-nuts (pumpkin pie flavour for me, lemon for Tony), then went through to airside. This was a mistake as there was very little there, just a bar, Pizza Hut, Burger King, one small newsagent and a very small duty free shop. There were also a ridiculously inadequate number of chairs.

Our flight time kept changing and we ended up leaving at 9pm. It was raining heavily and our pilot warned us there would be severe turbulence coming out of Miami and he was right. Oh my God! :scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1: It was horrible. Drinks had just been served when we hit a really bad patch. Lots of people shrieked (I hope I wasn’t one of them, but I may have been). All the drinks flew everywhere and the lights went out. I tried to drink my drink so it wouldn’t go all over me but it was so rough I couldn’t get the cup to my lips! The staff hurried to get everyone seated and checked for seatbelts and loose items. One little girl was sobbing as she had come out of the toilet and went down the wrong aisle so couldn’t find her seat. Fortunately it didn’t last long. It was far and away the worst turbulence I have experienced.

The rest of the flight was fine and the crew were very good. It was so funny, it was Halloween and one of the crew members had dressed up as the grim reaper. Not what you want to see after all that turbulence, especially when you’re a nervous flyer like me!

Tony managed to sleep and I read my book – Harlan Coben’s “The innocent” from cover to cover. I never sleep on a plane.

We landed on time, passport control, luggage pick-up and customs were all very quick and we were home by 10.30am

Tony unpacked the case while I did the washing and cleaned the house. Our son usually cleans up the night before we get home but had been sick while travelling back all night from their gig in York so it was a tad grubby! Back to reality!

So, our highlights – so many.

Our cruise, of course, especially: our tour of St Maarten - loved Maho Beach and the planes roaring overhead and the lovely Orient Beach.
and Castaway Cay - relaxing on the chairs in the sea sipping cocktails and just chatting.

Our day at Busch gardens; totally wowed by the coasters and a lovely meal at Manny’s on the way home.

Our brief first-time-at-a-Disney-resort stays at Wilderness Lodge, courtsey of Gary and Joh, and The Beach Club Villas.

Our stay at the Sheriton, which we always love.

And a thousand little things - excitedly waiting for the others to arrive at Cracker Barrel on our first morning together:grouphug:, standing on Main Street with our good, good friends and watching Wishes with them, watching Illuminations on a chilly night in Epcot, Meeting lots of lovely Disers on the cruise, and just having a fab, fab time.
Big, big big THANK YOUto Joh, Gary, Nat, Daniel, Ellie and Matthew for making it truly magical. :grouphug:

I know! To tell the truth, the fact that she had aleady got her first day done shamed me into finishing it!

It really was a great holiday Tee, thank you so much for coming with us and for saving me the job of writing the trippy ;)

Our next cruise is going to feel very wrong without you all - still hoping for that lottery win so you and Tone can come with us

I was going to say a lovely last day until I read about the awful turbulence. Poor you how scary and to see an attendant dressed as the grim reaper is hilarious although I'm sure it wasn't at the time.

Thanks for another lovely report - great to read all about the fun times you all had

Tam
