I saw these shoes in the Oscars' edition of People Magazine - someone was supposed to wear them, but in light of the Iraq situation, they were thought to be "too much" and would send a bad message. Now of course is a perfect time to sell them instead.

If I had $1.6 million to spend on a pair of shoes, I'd at least expect them to be COMFORTABLE! I canNOT imagine wearing shoes like that (even if they weren't made of precious materials). I would break my neck.
