I just have a simple question. Why is this ( :smokin: ) smilie on the DISboards? It is a bad example for younger players and it is showing kids it is ok a smoke because the guy is smiling. I am not trying to criticize (sp?) the people who do smoke, but I am just trying to stop those who don't from doing it.

If you agree with me, please post "Add me to the list" to sign this petition to have the smoking smilie ( :smokin: ) removed from the list.

Ahhhh geez! It's just a smiley! I wont be signing up.

Nor cant I attest to your signature.
98% of the teenage population does or has tried smoking pot. If you're one of the 2% who hasn't, copy & paste this into your signature.

I'm one of the 98%! :smokin:

Ok, and there is nothing wrong with your opinion. Everybody has their own. This is just mine. It I want to find out how many people out there agree with me or agree with you. And once again, I respect your opinion.

Alright... although I've never smoked pot, or even a cigarette for that matter... I agree- it's only a smilie!

I dont think it is a good thing to have a cig in a smiles mouth, what is the purpose of it any ways. :sad2:

I've never smoked a thing in my life, I work with children, and I think a huge red face frown and exclamation marks are seriously overkill for a smiley

Add me to your list..I totally agree...When you think of WDW you think of children and smoking smiley is just not my way of thinking of disney..Just my opinion...

oh for the love of god--- now the DIS boards have to be politically correct!

give me a break! :furious:

i dont have kids-- why do i have to suffer all the time because of yours!

give it a rest! maybe you should complain about the smiley that is drinking-- how about that!? we can have one smiley left :) but i am sure if you check hard enough someone will find that offensive too!

i think this thread should be CLOSED!!!!!!!! this wont end up good! :sad2:

Sorry but I'm not offended either. :confused3 It's just another smiley in my book. :goodvibes

Ummm, it's an emoticon.

While we're at it, let's remove :moped: as it teaches kids to not wear helmets.
And this one :badpc: because it teaches them to destroy property
:wizard: could teach witchcraft
too much :sunny: can give skin cancer
:happytv: this one promotes being a couch potato...let's bring on physical activity!!

In all seriousness, while I understand your concern, an emoticon isn't going to teach someone anything. I highly doubt that when a kid is facecd with the decision to smoke, they're going to think "well I remember seeing the emoticon on the DIS, so I'm going to go for it!" Not likely.

Neither my DH or I smoke, never have & couldn't care less about the smilie. It's a message board for cryin' out loud. Who cares?

Now, when Mickey starts walking around the park with ciggy butt hangin' out of his mouth, I'll sign your petition! :teeth:

i think that is what is wrong in this country today---

if people didnt POINT THINGS OUT TO THE KIDS-- they wouldnt even pay attention to it! THINGS WOULDNT BE BLOWN OUT OF PROPORTION LIKE THEY ARE!

as Bill Maher would say-- "but we have to protect the chillllllldreeeeennnn" :sad2:

I am confident that I am instilling enough common sense in my ds10 as to not be influenced by the smokin' smilie.

I don't have a problem with it either.

As another poster said, it's just an emoticon.

LOL!!! :rotfl2:

Hi, other Lulu!

Add me to the list. I think it's pointless. What emotion does it express anyway? My grandfather died from emphysema and I knew I'd never smoke after that.

The drinking one doesn't bother me- a casual cocktail or glass of wine is fun and could even be good for your health. Cigarettes lead to lung, mouth and throat cancer and emphysema. It's a different thing to me.

I pray to God that this thread is closed ASAP because in my experience here on the DIS this kind of thread is going to get ugly. :sad2:

:drinking: promotes drinking! :lmao: :lmao:

When I think of WDW...children are not the first things I think of, I rather remember the wonderful wedding and honeymoon I had there. As has been pointed out many times, WDW is a place for ALL ages...and so is the DIS. :thumbsup2

YMMV
