BAD BOYS BAD BOYS!! Undercover Security

This is almost the same thing my friend told her son this summer at MK. Her 16 y/o son is dating my 16 y/o daughter and we were turning them loose in the park for 1 day. She put the fear of the Disney Gods in him to keep him from trying to make out with her on the dark rides. It apparently worked too! Now if we could just live at WDW until they become adults! :rotfl:

That remind me.... I miss the Skyway. :rotfl2:

When my daughter started dating I dusted off my marksman trophy's and placed them in a prominent place. My husband worked nights and I was the only around to scare folks into behaving appropriately. I think it worked well as I have heard from more than one young man who said he did not date my daughter because of me. My daughter has not forgiven me but she is married well and happily and that works for me. :)

its not Disney police but Disney medics after they helped a little girl who fell outside the Judges tent

One time while in Epcot with my friend Mousermerf, we witnessed a guest who was trying to get in to the park completely dressed as 1980s icon Erik Estrada. We saw security approach him and tell him he could not wear that outfit in the park. Pretty funny to see a security guard telling 1980s icon Erik Estrada lookalike that they couldn't come in the park.

We shared some laughs, some tears, and blood.

Fascinating thread! I haven't witnessed anything, but I did see two undercover guys at DTD this July. I don't know how they moved so quickly in some instances. One minute I'd see them one place, and then another minute I'd see them somewhere else that seemed pretty far away.

So what do you think? Do the Security people just sit back there watching surveillance monitors or do the on-stage CM's alert them or probably both?

Both - they have some security watching surveillance and some walking the parks. They even ride the rides, etc.

I think it's great that Disney takes such an active role in protecting the guests. I've always wondered how they keep everything under control, especially, during the busy seasons.

P.S.

I :lovestruc German Shepards, they are the BEST!!

Just wanted to say... Hi Christa. My name is Christa too. Even spelled the same way.

I had a bad experience with that same unnamed park in Orlando! I can't remember all the details but we were headed up the handicapped ramp to the Shamu show and there was a group in front of us that appeared to be adult son using an ECV and his parents, and elderly woman pushing elderly man in a wheelchair. She was really struggling to get up the ramp and I was actually getting ready to tell DH to offer to help them out (he is a never get involved kind of person for the most part). There was a turn and I saw her struggling to get around it and she lost her balance and went down hard.

Of course we immediately went to her to check on her. She was really shaken up and I was worried she might have really hurt her hip or arm. I told DH to go and find some help. He ran back down and couldn't find anyone around outside the stadium. He came back up and went into the stadium and I think found a girl who just sort of shrugged her shoulders and said she was busy. He ended up knocking on the door of the sound booth and telling them someone was hurt and needed help. They weren't very concerned but did call someone. Took forever for a manager to arrive. By this time we had gotten her up and put her in the wheelchair. DH pushed her up the rest of the way into the stadium where the management person met us.

She was not very helpful. I told her that I thought they needed another wheelchair or ECV or someone to assist them to get back to the front of the park and she said there was nothing she could do. So then I asked her to get the woman a glass of water (she really needed one)-- nope, couldn't do that.:sad2: By this time my "don't get involved" husband was pissed! DH ended up going all the way back out of the stadium, finding a vendor and getting her a water bottle and glass of ice. They wanted to stay and watch the show (partially because she needed to sit down and rest in the shade at that point) so we checked on them again after it was over and offered to help them. DH pushed the wc back down the ramp for them (can't remember who was in it, the man or woman). We wanted to take them back to the front of the park or to find first aid but they told us they would be okay and to just go on with our day.

We could not believe that no one that worked there would offer any assistance and do anything to help them. We couldn't find anyone to help and the help we got was useless. I know that woman ended up with at least some nasty bruises and she really needed to be checked out.

I also have had a bad experience at a Six Flags Magic Mountain in California. I can't speak on it now because have not been there for some time but when I was there it was like gang central nothing but gangs trying to be little bad ***'s and I knew this going into the park because I had gone many times before but I mean thats were you go if your in Cali ( has the best thrill rides).

So It was my soon to be wife my younger brother maybe 17 at the time and me. We are waiting to get on Goliath and there is 2 gangster type guys behind us just talking smack about everyone in line ,being older not really caring just let it go in 1 ear out the other, However my brother was not so grown up and decided to throw in a comment of his own towards them. I'm standing there thinking okay were about to fight but nope the guys start yelling profanities and walk away. I'm thinking okay its done with boy was I wrong about 35 min later after we rode Goliath we see the same 2 guys coming back towards us this time with maybe 6 other guys. I'm thinking okay I know whats coming next so I asked my girlfriend to go to the near by gift shop and buy me a key chain with my name on it. She knew why I was trying to get rid of her.

So trying to diffuse the situation I tried to get in line for another ride turn my back to the group (big mistake) next thing I know I'm getting punched in the back of the head falling straight to the ground. I'm not gonna sit here and lie to you guys by saying I got some punches in because I didn't we literally got our ***'s kicked for what felt like ever. I'm thinking security will jump in and save us nope nothing. It took 4 nearby bystanders to come to our aid while the group that jumped us ran off.

I sat on a bench for about 30 min with a bloody mouth. In the distance I see my girlfriend coming back with some workers. Nothing ever happened to that group they were never found. That night my girl tells me that when I sent her away she ran to a gift shop to get help (instead of what I asked her to do typical) and the only thing the cashier did at the gift shop was tell my girlfriend how to get security. so after explaining to police what happened and giving the cop descriptions of the group I have decided not to visit Six Flags even more now that I'm a father and want to keep my kids out of harms way. I hear so many bad things about that place now. I even heard there's been shootings in the parking lot.

I sit sometimes and think what can have been done different that day to avoid the mess.

Hi Christa! There's a few of us here, but it's definitely not a name you see a lot! Do you get tired of spelling your name, too?! LOL

Just noticed this about an experience at SW. We are Gold pass holders and are there often and attribute my husband being alive to the wonderful employees at SW. He had a heart attack in the park. I talked to one employee that was sweeping who immediately had a wheel chair and several people on the scene working on him. I think it is still Reedy Creek Paramedics were in the first aide office waiting for us. Got him hooked up and into an ambulance in seconds. CMs gave me a map to get to hospital and drove me to my car in the parking lot in one of their golf carts. For a really bad experience for us they handled it well. Several even showed up at the hospital all weekend to check on how we were doing. BTW the hospital even put us up for free in a room specifically donated for out of towners who had someone hospitalized while on vacation. I still add SW employees and the hospital's staff to my prayers every night for making a horrible time in our lives a little less horrible.

Wow...

I love hearing stories like this...Kudos to the Sea World staff!!! Your husband is very fortunate.

Glad he is ok!

Hi Christa! There's a few of us here, but it's definitely not a name you see a lot! Do you get tired of spelling your name, too?! LOL

I was just at Maurices this morning and they asked my name for a dressing room so I said Christa. I walked back to the room and on the door was Krista.
The thing the really gets to me though is people not pronoucing it correctly.
At my highschool graduation they anounced Christina Landrum. I was so mad. I was like it's CHRIS with a TA.

But any ways such is life with an odd name.

Back to our original topic those crazy sneaky ninja security guards.

I feel your pain! I get Christie, Crystal and just Chris <shudder>. I am actually Christina, but my parents never called me that. I've seriously thought about legally changing my name to just Christa.

Yes, back to the topic! I can't wait for my next trip so I can start looking for the undercover security!!

Don't feel bad. My DD16 who is named Christina, still has some aunts and uncles who call her Christine! 16 years and you don't know her name yet!:confused3

I searched back to get my experience from my Trip Report back in 2008 when I went with some other DISers. Too lazy to retype the story.

This was at the Starring Rolls Cafe in MGM when we stopped to get some breakfast on our way to Toy Story. Leaving out the introductory details that won't make sense unless you read the report.

I was out first and got to try to find us a table. It was COLD—in fact I heard on the news that Florida had a record cold that night. This is what happens to me, I go to Florida and they have a record cold spell. So I was looking for a table in the sun so we could have a bit of warmth. :sunny: I found one but there was a backpack on one of the chairs. I asked the large group at the table next to me if it belonged to them. They said no, and it had been there a while with no one there. So I sat. Disney rules, you leave your stuff there for too long and no one is sitting then the table is up for grabs! A woman that looked like a supervisor/manager type (she wasn't wearing a funny costume!) walked by and I pointed out the chair with the backpack and told her it was there when we sat down and had lost it's owner. I was concerned that it would be stolen. Naturally I assumed that she would pick it up and take it in the back to be sent off to lost and found. I was dead wrong!

She took the entire chair and scooted it off about 30 yards away. Then she stood there in a guarding position and got on her walkie talkie. Security began showing up.

First one.

Then another.

And another.

Then 2 carrying ropes.

And we a few more around the perimeter of the area.

The ones with ropes roped off an area around the chair.

In the meantime a CM that was cleaning in the area came over to watch and to talk with us. He was also not in a funny costume and he told us he was a Trainer and was just helping out for a bit. He stayed with us chatting and watching what was going on. Also the large group at the table next to us took off. They were also interested in the action but said they had to move on. After they left a man came over and plopped himself at their now empty table. He seemed to be talking to himself but I figured he was on a bluetooth talking to his family telling them he got a table. He was also watching the security action. He leaned over to us and said “ Hey, did that thing start over here or where it is now?”. I figured he was just curious like we all were so of course I started telling him the story. He started talking into his coat again, but this time I heard “10-4” and “affirmative” and decided that he wasn't talking to his family!

We were all still talking and the Training CM said that they were going to bring out the dog. DOG??? :scared1: We were really floored! I had even considered opening the backpack when we sat down to see if there was any ID in it. And here they were calling in a dog! Phors' son is with K9 in the military and had just lost his dog so this was certainly very interesting news to us. Phors said something about getting pictures of the dog to show her son. This is when the strange tourist next to us looked over and quietly said “We would prefer you didn't mam” We all looked at him and the CM said “OH! I didn't ever recognize you sitting there!” And he proceeded to introduce us to the Head of Studios Security ::cop: (undercover:cool2: )! He was extremely nice but said that they try to bring the dog out, have him do his job and get him back without drawing a crowd. If people start taking photos then it draws a crowd and they may have to confiscate cameras and review the pics and get witness statements. We completely understood and had a nice chat while waiting for the dog. There was no way were leaving our seats until this was over!

When he got word on the radio the dog was on it's way out he walked by and told us that we could get pics but just stay in our seats and be discreet. We were able to get several good pictures. Because the Head of Security works undercover I have removed him from these pics to protect his identity.

Of course the dog came out, sniffed the bag, laid down and looked up as if to say “You woke me up for that???”

IMG_1891.jpg

IMG_1892.jpg

Quicker than it had happened, the dog and his handler disappeared backstage, the ropes were rolled up and one of the security guys picked up the bag and opened it and they all walked off. We never did find out if there was even anything in it!

IMG_3552-1.jpg

We did learn that Disney has several full time K9 units and they do this for any abandoned bag. I would have thought that would have meant many times a day, it would seem that people would be constantly leaving things. But in reality security said it really doesn't happen all that often.

So the excitement was over. We had promised a good run it with security and it doesn't get much better than this! About 10 Security officers, the HEAD of security and a K9 Unit! As we walked off a few things did cross our minds:

Phors was thinking maybe that was just one of their Streetmosphere shows and wondered if we were supposed to applaud at the end!:rotfl2:

And I was thinking that if they REALLY thought it could have been a bomb, shouldn't they have moved it a little further away, okay A LOT further away from us???:confused3

And when I told DH about it later he said he was so glad to see that we were smart enough to move ourselves out of danger when a bomb was suspected.:sad2:

Tiramasu: $4.00
Fruit Tart: $4.00
Eclair: $4.00
Coffee: $3.00
Meeting the Head of Security and the K9 and NOT being arrested. . . Priceless!

Thanks nice story they also used the k-9s to search large bags that pin traders bring in to the specail pin events. it easyer then securty going through the whole bag. The dogs are disney property so they have to stay on disney property 24/7 their human partners cant take them home. It weird because the police allow their k-9 officers to take home the dog so they bond but i guess disney dose not want to have one of their dogs go missing or moon lighting at a non disney park. In the morning you might see them standing out side the parks by bag check to help with the large amount of people at once. They have to wear vest saying not to pet them because they are a working dog.

lovetoscrap, I was plumb scared for a minute there when you said your incident was from a 2008 trip where you met fellow DISers. I thought you were going to tell about me being dragged, kicking and screaming obscenities, from every single park just because I was drunk, disorderly and had been beating every child I saw. :lmao:

Just joking folks. I have many faults but none of those apply. I refuse to tell which one might though. :)

I think that was the trip where I met you. I take pictures usually and will have to check. I also take pictures of notes left on my door. They will be my memories when I can no longer to to my Happy Place.

Stuff like this is why I love vacationing in WDW. The CMs there in the park are really top-notch. They do everything they can to make sure that the drama is behind the scene, the guests are still living in their magical land and that we really do not experience the "real world" while on vacation. Threads like this remind me why my money that gets Disney gets is money well-spent.
