Bad BC room

We had a very late check in Friday night. I had called the resort directly that morning to confirm we would be arriving that evening and double checked on our requests.

We had a "water view" room that was so bad it was laughable. How do they consider the view through a huge bush of the pool stairs railing a water view?!

I believe it is the Unofficial Guide that reccomends only getting a standard at this resort because of the overly wide definition of what they consider water view. I now know exactly what they mean. We were moved the next day but next time I'll just book a standard.

What did the hotel do when you complained?

I knew immediately when they gave me a first floor room I was in trouble. When I complained at check - in, the front desk said the resort was completely full and denied having any requests on file despite my confirmation of that earlier in the day. The best they could do was have the room arranger call me in the morning which she did. She did get me a much better room but we had to have bell services check our bags when we left for TL at 9am and our room wasn't ready until after 3pm.

Since we were splitting our stay already between GF and BC, this meant two days without access to a room which was terribly inconvenient.

The room arranger was very, very nice and I've written a nice note to WDW to compliment her on her courtesy.

Thanks for the follow-up, but I'm still confused. Your OP complained about the lack of a waterview even though you reserved and paid for a waterview room. Did they at least give you a reduced price or some other compensation since they couldn't give you the level of accomodations you paid for?

Don't let this go. Even though the stay is done, you should write to the GM at the Beach Club, with a cc to the Resorts Guest Relations Manager, to tell them that you didn't get what you paid for.

Based on past postings from people in the hospitality industry regarding this issue, it seems that many hotels routinely mislead guests with regard to views. Apparently they feel no shame in doing this since they get to charge extra money for the mis-labeled lousy view rooms. Nice to hear they eventually gave you what you paid for though.

We came in very late Fri and planned to go right to bed so sleeping was much important and I believe the CM when he said nothing else was available (GF was booked that weekend also).

I quess if Josie, the room arranger hadn't been so nice and helpful and gave us exactly what I wanted I would have been much more angry.

I should have taken a picture because it really was laughable what they considered "water view".

What really amazes me is at many of the deluxe resorts, they consider pool view a water view. OK, so a pool is technically water, but come on...

I keep reading posts of people complaining about rooms at the resorts. It seems the general response from CMs is "The Resort is Full, We are Completely Booked." How can it be low season and all of these resorts be completely booked/sold out?!?!

Friday and Saturday nights in early December usually are soldout. Many people living closeby come in for the weekends.

I have read in the guides to be careful of "Water View rooms" since all this means is that you will see some water. They said this was mostly at YC and BC. That being said..... we were upgraded for free to a WONDERFUL water view room at YC.

This is pretty much standard practice from my experience at the beach club. We really like the BC too. But have ALWAYS had to move the next day, even when checking in early in the day? :earboy2:

They always use the line, you have "NO request" the last time, the cm was down right smug and boardline rude about it, "so how am I suppose to know what it is you wanted" enough so I said, oh I'm sorry, I need to check something, Pulled out my cell phone called CRO right on the spot, luckly got through had them pull up my ressie and said " yes, I would like to go over my ressie and be sure its in order, could you read me my request" they where listed, I said ok does the BC have the SAME computer screens you do? She said oh yes they will, I said ok, would you like to talk to my cm here at the BC who is waiting for me, he does not know where they are located, and I handed him my cell phone. I was not happy, and then asked to see the desk manager. The cm, told me he really did not need to talk to cro agent. but would get his supervisor. The problem was quickly cleared up. I told them, I totally realize request are only request, and if not available then its not available, but lying to me is a whole other subject. Especially since this is the 3rd time I've had this same thing told to me while checking in here.

Sorry this happened to you, and that they have not learned to handle this better. (we haven't been back in 1 1/2 yrs to bc). Have ressies for sept/ oct and am rethinking it as I'm typing this. :charac2: I would definately write a letter or you might get a survey card from the bc and mention there also! You need satisfaction and they need to fix this problem. :badpc:

This doesn't only happen at the deluxes.

A friend of mine paid for a water view at Coronado Springs and had a view of a fountain. They complained and got nowhere, so now they won't ever go back there.

geesh......I would have loved to have seen that CM's face!

Like you said, I know a request is ONLY a request. And there is a good chance of not getting any of my requests. But still............why the need to lie to me. I actually would rather hear......"lady, to be honest, this hotel is packed full tonight and there's not a chance in hades that I can give you all of these requests"..........lol :teeth:

Good for you.

I think it's a standard line they use to have you take the room you have and they hope that you will not bother to change the next day. I mean really, I have been hearing this same thing for years now from people on this board. It's always the same, they don't have anything else but you can change in the morning! When we checked into the BCV last time, the room was so smoky that I felt ill. The smell seemed to come from the air conditioner and I requested that they at least change the filter or put in an air cleaner while we were at the parks. When we came back, nothing had been done and I called the desk and told the manager that I couldn't wait until morning and would sleep in the hallway instead. He came up moments later and moved us up one floor to a wonderful, clean room!! How could that be? They were full? :earseek:
