Bad Backs and Resort Mattresses I need Help.

I just read on another site that someone compared POFQ and AKL mattresses to both be firm. All this time I have thought that the AKL had soft mattresses just by the look of the pictures? I think I've been wrong...I keep staying at the POFQ because ever since their rehab the mattresses are very firm and the firmer the mattress the less pain I feel. On the flip side I know there are people with bad backs that need soft mattresses. Since most of us have not tried out every resort I know I for one would Love to hear the mattress types that the other resorts offer. Maybe alot of us bad back disney'er's can start trying other resorts and branch out. When you have back problems your afraid to try new beds because it could be a week of pain and no sleep.. So If anyone could help out on resort beds I and I'm sure other's would be so Greatful..

I have heard that the Dolphin has what they call "heavenly beds" and they are very comfy. I have never slept there, and am not sure "heavenly" neccesarily means good for back problems, maybe someone else can help you, or you can call and ask them?

I have a bad back and am just back from AKL. When I first sat down on the bed I thought it felt firm, which I didn't think I'd like. I slept great and my back felt better than it had in a long time. After that initial thought of firm, I never gave it another thought....it just felt right, not sure if it was firm or soft.

While the first few nights on a Disney mattress I sleep ok, I am totally sore by the end of our trips. The only place I have been comfortable is the Swan or Dolphin. Those heavenly beds really are heavenly!

June of 03 we stayed there and my back never felt better. We bought a new bed in August of that year because we tried to figure out if we needed a new one. DH read on the internet about the life of your mattress and it said if you sleep better somewhere else, you need a new mattress. We did!! My back problems are almost gone. I had days where I couldn't even stand up straight. I think you'll find the beds at AKL are great.

I must be the odd one out because I hated the AKL bed. I was uncomfortable the whole trip.

I second the Swan And Dolphin heavenly beds. They are just that....heavenly and good for anything that ails you. The only down side to them is if you want to get up early to get to the parks at opening...you may just have a hard time getting out of it

The DVC rooms have great mattresses too! Mom loved the one at Old Key West so much, she called Mickey and he told her what ones they use. She bought one at home and it cost a fortune; she was impressed that this is what they use on property.

Good luck. Everyone's achy back likes a different mattress, so perhaps it's just "luck of the draw."

I know the mattresses were very hard at CSR, but I kind of remember the old mattresses at the Swan as being okay. I would like to try their new ones!

If you need a really firm mattress you can request a backboard that will go under the mattress. Best to have this put on your reservation as medical note.

I've tried the beds at both AKL and Swan. I preferred the mattress at Swan, but that was me. The mattress at AKL is a firmer mattress and I like mine cushier (i.e. The Heavenly Bed). To memory, the mattresses at CBR were really comfortable, too.

Another VOTE for the Heavenly Beds! In fact, when ever we travel, we try to look for the Starwood WESTIN/SHERATON resorts and hotels, because of these amazing BEDS! It's truly like sleeping on a cloud, and the bedding/pillows are fabulous too. I too, have a "sensitive" back, and prefer the beds at the Swan/Dolphin over all other resorts.
