So...how hot will it be in that tent in August?:headache: I would love to take my girls but I am so afraid that it will be so hot we won't enjoy it. Do they do anything to cool off the tent or do people eat and leave?:scared:

Thanks in advance. I am trying to come up with some new stuff for our trip this year but I am realizing that there are reasons we never did them in the past.:rotfl:

Glad you asked this question. DS and I are going in August and I was wandering the same thing. You dont hear much about the BBQ-is it worth it?

I have never been, but have done some research. I heard that it can be a little "buggy" during the summer months.

I have been there the last week in August and it was fine. We had such a great time. It was good food & fun. Go you will have fun.

HMMM....So maybe not worth the time or money in August.:scared: Anyone know about the Poly Luau?

I dont know about doing it in August. But we went in December 2008 and it was absolutely wonderful. We had been to Hoop Dee Doo 3 times and wanted to try something new. I had read bad reviews and was scared to try it but met a man on the monorail the year before who said it was great.

DH, DS (9), and myself all liked it better than Hoop Dee Doo (and we like Hoop Dee Doo alot). We thought the food was better. The show was cute, and the service was way better. DH likes him some beer and our waiter kept it coming:drinking1

If you have never done the Luau then I say it something you must try. It is very shaded where it is and if I remember right they had fans under the place where you eat. Do the late show and it should be nice.

Thank you!:goodvibes We have done HDD 2x and my family loves it. They sing it at home all the time too. With that said, I also thought it would be nice to try something different. Our husbands could be one in the same. :headache: Glad to hear the waiter was generous.:woohoo: I was actually looking for somethings to keep hubby happy this trip and unlimited beer and wine would be right up his alley.

I would be interested to know if my DD would be able to get pasta with tomato sauce (mariana sp?) She is a veggie and she ate this at HDD as all the meat is no good for her. We are on DDP and if she doesn't get something like this, it will be a very expensive meal at 2 adult TS's.

Backyard BBQ is buffet, so i am guessing there would be something for everyone, including vegetarians...

we have considered going a few times, but have always passed because of "fear" of the heat and bug factor...

we love HDDR... and surprised ourselves when we enjoyed the luau even more!!

I searched high and low for reviews before our trip last year and found very few positive reviews. I was very tempted to cancel our ressies but decided in the end to judge it for myself. We went to last week in August 2008 so here are my observations
1. it was the most hot and humid day I have ever experienced but somehow it wasn't bad at all in the pavillion, perhaps the cold beer helped. That being said, it was hotter than blazes on the dance floor with the characters.
2. the food was pretty good (and so was the beer, it was ice cold and perfect)
3. we never saw one bug
4. my boys (4 and 9) didn't want to "dance with" the characters but my dd (2) sure did
5. it was like a Disney mosh pit on the dance floor, something I expected, but it seemed to me that the characters made a great attempt to give all of the children a little dancing time
6. the band was really good, if you like country music
7. we had to leave early because my dd needed a rest (ok she was a bear and wouldn't stop crying because other people were dancing with her Minnie)
8. did I mention the beer was cold :thumbsup2
9. Mickey came around to the tables when they were doing some magic tricks, so we were able to get autographs and pictures
I'm still undecided as to whether it was worth 2 dining credits but I'm really glad we had that experience. The fact that the tip was included, the food was ok and the entertainment was good leans me towards yes.
sorry for the long winded answer.
PS I don't even really like beer - but I did that day
