We've done Keys to the Kingdom, and really enjoyed it! Any reviews about the Backstage Magic Tour? I would really like any firsthand information, as I am considering this for my October trip! Thanks!

hi Krissalee,
i just did this tour on may2. it was my 1st tour so i can't compare it to others but i really enjoyed it. i was worried that 7 hrs might seem kind of long but it just flew by. we went behind the scenes at american adventure and body wars at epcott and actually rode body wars as well. then we went to mgm and saw where the costumes are made and also where the cm's get their costumes. we had an excellent family style meal at mama melrose's. we went to the place where they make the and refurbish rides, and to mk to see the parade floats up close. i could go on and on and would probably still forget to tell you something :D i would definately recommend this tour:D

katypop -

So glad to hear your trip went well. I was trying to remember when you were getting home. How was it being solo? Do you think you could have done this tour in mid-July with the heat factor? That is my current concern.

Thanks
Sandy

This tour sounds really good. We have done the Keys to the Kingdom Tour three times perhaps it is time to try something else!!!

Thanks for the info katypop! I think I will be adding this to my itinerary in October. We really liked Keys to the Kingdom, and it seems like this (Backstage Magic) gives more info and variety, being in more than one park. :)

I just love tours, but I have never been on a Disney one. Are photographs permitted in any areas?

I know that photos are not allowed on the tours, particularly in the backstage areas. This was the case for the Keys to the Kingdom, so I am assuming all the tours are the same. Disney doesn't want folks taking photos of things that may potentially "ruin the magic" for another guest. When we did the Keys tour last year, DH even had to place his backpack in a storage locker, as large bags were not allowed on the tour.

thanks for the welcome back Sandy, i had a wonderful solo trip, and am already starting to look and see if i could fit another one in next apr before my AP expires:p at times i missed everyone but i am going back in dec with dd and it really was nice for the 1st time to take a vacation and only have to worry about what you want to do . even enjoyed my very 1st massage...so relaxing:D in answer to your question, i think this tour would be okay in july too. it was 90 on the day i did this, and yes it was very warm but you are in and out of cool buildings all day and the bus is is a nice large air-conditioned coach, they even had a cooler filled with bottled water on the bus and we were told to help ourselves. lunch was also a nice cool break. i would go ahead and book it.:D
Shells9, Krissalee is correct, you cannot take pictures for most of the trip, except when outside on main street and during the actual parade. since we had a bus for this tour and the bus driver stayed in it at all times we were told we could leave bags, cameras etc on the bus if we wanted. i think you will really enjoy this tour Krissalee.

Hey Everyone!

I would definitely recommend this tour - even for those who have taken Keys to the Kingdom (we took both, as well)! You are able to see more of the MK tunnels on Backstage Magic - the restricted areas which you are shown from the outside on Keys to the Kingdom, in particular! In addition to all of the great things that the previous posters have mentioned, I loved seeing backstage at Fantasmic! And I loved seeing back (and under) stage at the American Adventure! Central Shops was really neat, too - at the time when we took the tour, they were building the Share a Dream Come True parade floats (the snowglobes) and rehabbing a bunch of AA figures - you never know what you'll get to see, over there! I also loved seeing the parade float storage areas, and seeing the SpectroMagic and Electrical Water Pageant floats up close! This is a FANTASTIC tour, and as previous posters have said, the 7 hours fly right by, and the Tour Guide makes sure that the heat is not unbearable for anyone! They tailor the pace of the tour to Guest needs and provide cold beverages and lots of air conditioned stops. Definitely take this tour, if you have a chance! :)

I to will be taking this tour 6/5/03. Thanks for the info Rider, after taking the Keys tour in 97. I am excited by knowing I will get to see more of the utiladoors.

Question:
Did you see how the parade was run on your tour?
and what is the itinerary?
