This is our first Disney trip and when I called yesterday a CM told me that due to COVID they won’t take purchases back to your resort anymore. So, now I am planning on bringing a backpack.

What do you do with a backpack during rides?
Thanks! Other tips would be appreciated!

As far as purchases you can always rent a locker if you don't want to carry a bag, obviously that would mean going toward the front of the park everytime you buy something

I put it next to me on the bench or on the floor with my leg thru the strap.

I think some shops will hold your purchases and you can pick them up on the way out. We did this once and the hardest part was remembering to pick it up before 5 pm.

Oh that would be great! I don’t want to carry a backpack. Ha!!

It also means needing to remember to go to the locker at the end of the day to retrieve the shopping. I have experience. 🤣 We got to MNSSHP early two years ago (got there before the party started) and went shopping for Halloween merchandise at the Emporium. Then we put it in a locker so that we wouldn’t have to carry it around all night. We had a great time at the party and left the park. About 11pm, back in our room getting ready for bed, my daughter asked me for her new magic band. That’s when I remembered the locker! :rotfl2:We had to go back to MK to retrieve our things. We were so exhausted that the whole thing seemed completely hilarious (it still does!). We couldn’t stop laughing at our mistake the entire boat road over to the MK.

We were able to leave a purchase at one shop as long as we picked it up before 5 pm in September. I thought I saw CMs bagging and sealing up a purchase for later pickup at another shop. I wouldn’t guarantee they do it at every shop though.

Ok thanks, what you saw the cm sealing could've been a ship to home item but it never hurts to ask, good tip

We had some things mailed as well
We are doing the droid thing at HS and we are going to mail that home. We might just save everything and mail it altogether from the hotel. I was just thinking if I carried a bag it would need to waterproof too. So many things....

Mailing is a smart option. Remember to save your receipts if not mailing straight at moment of purchase.

You can bring it with you on all rides. The only ride you can't actually physically have it with you while you ride is Flight of Passage, but there are bins behind you once you board.
I've brought a small backpack with me for years. Never had a problem having it with me on a ride. Some rides like RnRC can be a little challenging, but doable.

Yep, I pretty much always have some kind of bag with me. I typically put my foot/leg through a strap while on RnRC and Everest and never have any issues.

This is the first I am hearing of this and while it's not surprising, it's sad.

Soarin will have you leave it on the ground.

If it is big yes, smaller bags can fit under your seat. My normal size back pack can usually fit under the seat fairly easily.

Now I am thinking of purchasing a Vera Bradley backpack. I think it would be more comfortable to use all day than a regular backpack with nylon straps. I can also take it on the plane. I am worried about it getting wet at Splash Mountain. We are not going to AK so we don't have to worry about it there. :)

We take a backpack to each park we go to and rent a locker, which are generally located at the front of each park. Lockers cost about $10 per day for a small locker. Lockers can be accessed throughout the day without additional fees. Small lockers will hold a pretty good sized backpack. So much nicer time not having to haul a backpack around the parks. Park purchases can be sent to guest services, at the front of the parks, for pick up at the end of the day. They currently will not deliver packages to the resorts. Just remember to get your packages and locker items before leaving.
