Last year I used a backpack while in the parks. I'd like to do the same this year. However, I was looking for a lighter/reasonably priced pack. The one I used last year was too bulky. I'd only be carrying my wallet, disposable camera, poncho, light jacket, and small things like chapstick and sunglasses. Any suggestions on a pack I could get at a reasonable price? :confused3

TIA :goodvibes

I would do anyhting I could not to carry one, it slows ya down

I got a backpack the size of a small purse at WalMart for around $8.00.

It looks like a mini-backpack with long straps you put over your shoulders.

We are starting to look for a lighter backpack too. The one we used for many years broke last year and its tough finding a light one.

I have one that I take to the parks with me and to other places, like baseball games, for example. I got it at Target. It's light and it's a mini-backpack. You should definitely check out Target.

In the spring someone on here menioned the bagalleni bag. I know several of us ordered one. You can get one from their website, but a seller on e-bay had them as a buy now item, at a much cheaper price. Depending on how you adjust the strap it can be used as a messenger bag or a one strap backpack. It has LOTS of pockets, but is quite a bit smaller than a regular backpack and is lightweight. It worked well for me in May. In fact I had a couple of smaller pockets left over that I didn't even use.

I had an autograph t-shirt and pens, camera, cell phone, mister fan, id, AP, room key, safe key, credit card, a small coin purse, my itinerary, a small note pad and pen, poncho, lip balm, powder, bandaids, mole skin, small sunscreen and a small guide book and still had room left over. Again it is smaller than a traditional backpack, but holds alot because of the pockets. It even had a pocket for my Brita bottle on the side.

Aubriee - Would you say that in addition to those items, the Bagallani could hold snacks for a family of 4 and extra water bottles also? Really like it, but not sure it could handle our load. Thank you!

I use a simple, shoe bag size backpack for the parks. I hate being "Momma the Pack Mule" so I downsized, but with the need for medications, rewetting solution for the contacts, wallet (even trimmed down to one that has a zippered coin pocket and 3 slots for bills, room keys, credit cards, photo id...one has a see through spot...leather with velcro closure at Walmart for less than $5), mini first aid kit, 3 ponchos, and my mini tripod it all fit fine with room to spare. I wish I would have purchased it in a color other than black...goes with everything, but it gets hot easier...only one they had at the time at Walmart.

I have seen many like the one I have for around $10...Nike makes one sold at shoe and sport stores (Shoe Carnival, Finish Line, etc.) and saw one at Old Navy with their logo on it.

I just got one of these on E-Bay recently for my trip! It is really light-wieght. I paid like $18 plus shipping on E-bay.

I also bought a small backpack purse last year that I will porbably bring again as well.

Oh, I forgot to add to my last post about these...

Not sure about all AAA offices, but our local one sells the Baggallini bags in the office and before we left our office was having a 10% off sale for member. If you aren't a member of AAA, you can still buy things from their store, just don't receive the AAA discount.

They look really great, but I didn't notice any backpack style, which is what I prefer so the weight is more evenly distributed.
