Backpack? Purse? What to bring?

I'm trying to decide what to bring for my stuff at Disney. I usually carry a purse, but after all that walking it starts to hurt your shoulder, and it's inconvenient for the rides. However, this year I have an over the shoulder satchel-esque bag that's pretty roomy and have some nice pockets. However, I'm still debating whether I should get a backpack or not. I don't have too much to carry (DSLR Camera which I'm not bringing in its own bag, wallet, phone, water, snacks, and maybe my jacket.)

Ladies, what do you usually chose?

Geeky but I just wear a fanny pack with just a few essentials. I think we'll go back to the room for coats, change of shoes, whatever this trip.

I always carry my messenger Baggilini. Love it!


When we did the Halloween party, we took in DS Pottery barn backpack & I just put a few of my things in there. Worked great.

I use a small Sherpani Zoom...It holds just the essentials of out tickets, FP's, phone and wallet. It's a small crossbody bag and so light I don't even know it's there. I NEVER take it off unless I'm in our hotel room as I don't want to risk losing it. Then as a family we have one backpack with snacks, water, camera, sunscreen that we take turns carrying. This works well for us

I would carry a DSLR on a neck strap. Heck, I might carry my little digital on a lanyard, come to think of it.

I wish wearing a crossbody bag didn't bother me but it does. I'm not even busty but having a strap between my ****s feels even more wrong than wearing a fanny pack, looks-wise.

Check Ebay for cross body bags. Lots of different sizes and shapes

You are so right. Hahaha. Mine is a crossbody, but I don't use it that way. I just like it hang off my left shoulder. I just wonder if a backpack would be easier.

If you want to put your DSLR in a regular backpack, you can get those camera wraps (padded cloth squares with velcro...like Skooba wraps) to wrap your camera in when you put it in your pack. It stays put better than using a towel, and keeps your camera safe. Of course it will mainly be out being used, I'm sure!

I carry a small baggallini (Bon voyage bagg) across my body. My husband carries a camelbak backpack, which can fit quite a bit of other stuff in it. It doesn't bother him, not sure I would want to carry a backpack full of water all day. It sure cuts down on drink costs, though!

I used to carry the baggalini, but I like to carry a few more things. I found a Mickey Mouse tote bag at Walmart and I carry that. It is over the shoulder but it's not so big and I just find things easier in there. I carried that all over WDW and plan to for Disneyland.

In my own world, I like to think that I am rockin' my fanny pack. I love that thing!

Problem is, that won't carry my DSLR.

I solve that problem by carrying mine on a BlackRapid Strap. I have the RS-W1. I keep an external flash and a walkaround lens (18-135) on my camera the whole time at the parks, and it never gets heavy. I just keep the fanny pack on my left hip, and the camera falls to my right. Easy peasy.

I don't know if this solution would work for you, but I've had great success with it and thought I'd throw it out there.

We have a neoprene wrap for our DSL that I love. It attaches to the strap so when it's not on, it just hangs loose. Makes me feel better about carrying it around my neck or shoulder loose, or putting it inside something else.

That being said, I am also looking for a new sling-type bag for DL. My DH will carry it if I find something that isn't too feminine.

I have found that a hipster type bag works best. Doesn't hurt my back and you can just move it to the side when you're on the rides. They come in all different sizes so I'm sure you could find one to accommodate your camera.

I have a small Disney backpack (the pink plaid print one with white Mickey silouettes that they sold at the parks) that I use on every trip. It is not too large and has a small pocket on the outside for my cell phone and hand sanitizer for a quick grab. You don't want anything to big and bulky because it will be uncomfortable all day and they are harder to stow on rides.

I made the decision to use Photo Pass and only carry a small digital camera in a camera bag. It has a place for my cards, my phone, and our passports fit in there perfectly. There's a zippered pouch on the outside for change and only measures about 4X6X2. I like to feel free so it's all I carry. I always wear it cross body when I'm in the park because of how easy it would be for someone to snatch it and run.

Our daughter prefers her DSLR and a backpack filled to the gills with snacks, extra clothes, etc. There are lockers in the park if you don't want to carry everything around with you and saves having to go back to your hotel.

I've recently started using a drawstring backpack after I found that my purses that I normally use couldn't fit my sunglasses case (yes, I have crazy small purses, haha). They're cheap, roomy without being mega-huge, and can easily fit on rides. They're not the cutest, I admit, but I like how it's a backpack that doesn't really feel like a backpack.

I'm w/ Susie! Dh just got a new Osprey backpack-on the condition he'd haul sweatshirts and snacks around dIsney . bonus!! :up:

I'm planning to use the sling pack from Eddie Bauer this trip. It's got enough room for some snacks (for when I split from dh w/ our younger dd while he takes older dd on roller coasters), water bottle pocket (I'm the refill and add a crystal light packet gal), room for a l/s shirt or sweatshirt, hat, gloves, camera, wallet, etc. There's a nice little pocket on the strap (which when worn is right in the middle of your chest) which will hold my iPhone nicely. Easy access for pics, or mousewait etc. it should be easier to just swing to the front of me on rides. W/ the BP I always have to take t off and stow at my feet. Not a disaster ear, but this should work out better.

That's the plan. I'm also bringing my EB daypack in case there's not enough room for what I want to carry around with me.
