Backpack? Purse? What to bring?

I solve that problem by carrying mine on a BlackRapid Strap. I have the RS-W1. I keep an external flash and a walkaround lens (18-135) on my camera the whole time at the parks, and it never gets heavy. I just keep the fanny pack on my left hip, and the camera falls to my right. Easy peasy.

I don't know if this solution would work for you, but I've had great success with it and thought I'd throw it out there.

I have the same black rapid strap as you do, my only concern is having it at my hip all the time. I feel like it would just bump into everyone and smack little ones in the back of the head all the time LOL. I love the strap, but I would prefer something a little safer for such a busy place.

I used to worry about that too. But one day I realized that I instinctually (is that a word?) would reach down and keep my hand on it when it got too crowded or if I worried about it swinging around too much. I felt like a gunslinging sheriff in the Old West with my hand close to my hip. :rotfl2: I hope you find a solution so that you can take lots of great pictures with ease. :goodvibes

We carry a backpack. You can get a smaller one, so you don't have a big bulky bag you don't need.

Lesportsac has beautiful backpacks themed on It's a Small World.Pricey...but it's an investment.I love my Tokidoki Lesportsac.

In my own world, I like to think that I am rockin' my fanny pack. I love that thing!

Bwahahaa! Me too!

Loving the tips on how to carry a DSLR... I will attempt to do that for the first time, so I'm keeping my eye on this thread and checking out the suggestions!

I wear a back pack. It's got lots of room to carry just about anything and it allows me to show off all my extra pins that aren't on my lanyard (they're all locking backs and I double check them quite often). I used to have a drawstring type backpack but the thinness of the straps started hurting my shoulders and lower back. I wish I didn't feel the "need" to have so many things at all times, but I do. :confused3

I carry a small baggallini (Bon voyage bagg) across my body. My husband carries a camelbak backpack, which can fit quite a bit of other stuff in it. It doesn't bother him, not sure I would want to carry a backpack full of water all day. It sure cuts down on drink costs, though!

My DH is also awesome and carries a Camelback backpack whenever we are in Disney. I usually just have the basics (debit card, cc, phone, ID) in a wristlet...which I usually just throw in the backpack as well.

My dad is awesome about carrying my mom's stuff, just not mine, hahaha. When my DB becomes my DH I'll use him as my pack mule, hes okay with it. (;

Cross body bags are a little easier because you don't have to take them off (and possibly forget them!) than a backpack.

That said, with kids, we always bring a backpack. Nothing like being in line w/ a 2 year old who decides they are hungry/thirsty/bored and your stuff is all back at the stroller.:faint:

You ARE rockin the fanny pack! I feel so much less geeky now. :thumbsup2

Why wait? Lol ;)

I use a small Sherpani Zoom...It holds just the essentials of out tickets, FP's, phone and wallet. It's a small crossbody bag and so light I don't even know it's there. I NEVER take it off unless I'm in our hotel room as I don't want to risk losing it. Then as a family we have one backpack with snacks, water, camera, sunscreen that we take turns carrying. This works well for us
We do the same exactly. My crossbody bag needed to go so I just picked up the Sherpani you recommended! Thanks.

Yay for the Zoom! The family's tickets go in one zip pocket (under the flap)...ONLY used for tickets so they don't fall out, but are easy to get at for the FP machines. FP's go the other flap zip pocket for easy access. I put my phone in on the outside zip compartment. My ID and credit card go in the inside-the bag zip compartment, and everything else in the main compartment. I feel so organized, and I have a pocket for everything. Hope you love it! :)

Awesome!!

You'll see folks run the gamut of carrying no bags to lugging what appears to be a trunk on their back. We use ordinary school backpacks. I just prefer to keep my hands free to look after the kids and I find messenger bags tend to wear on my shoulder like a purse does. I would advise bringing something waterproof (big ziploc bag, etc.) to stow your camera and phone in inside the bag during the wet rides like splash. You might want to also consider a camera bag inside for extra padding and protection of the DSLR.
