What is the best backpack for guys in the parks? I never really used one before, but this trip I want to carry one.

was in June 04 with DH. It depends on when you go (heat and humidity). I got a fanny pack for myself and DH. He refused to wear it. Wanted the BP. First time at DW and didn't want to look "funny" I guess. Well, after soaking I don't know how many shirts trying to haul the BP around the park he *demanded* the fanny pack and didn't look back. Wore it on our April trip too. I think there were so many people: young, old, men, woman, ???? that had them he realized it's not like the real world.

So in long.... I have no specific BP brands just we prefer the fanny.

Check out Eddie Bauer and LLBean - the one DH is using is from Eddie Bauer. For years I carried the diaper bags - so now he has the back pack - I think that is fair.

DH says there are a lot of variables to consider when answering this question. He is SERIOUS about his packs! His favorite is the Mountainsmith Touring . . . if you want to take a look: http://www.ebags.com/mountainsmith/tour/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=69866

The back support on this pack is great! He carries everything . . videocamera, snacks, water, etc. DDs carry their own small packs with h2o and snacks. I carry nothing! princess:

In case of inclement weather DH says you may have do switch to backpack for ponchos. I did say SERIOUS!

We now do the hydration packs with some pockets Camelpacks.

But I use to use a sling pack from Old navy .I could wear it up front if doing a lot of videoing and then switch it to the back if we were just walking around.

Hey MinMouse, How does he get on the rides with that backpack? That pack is huge!!

kcarp --- yep it's a biggee. It also has a shoulder strap which tucks away nicely when not using it as a waist pack. He usually uses the shoulder strap when in line and tucks it away in the ride . . . just like you'd do with a backpack. A lot of rides he just slides it to the side and it works fine! We've actually had people stop and ask us about the pack while in the parks! We ride EVERYTHING and this pack works fine for us and again I don't have to carry anything! princess:

I would suggest getting a Camelbak. They keep you and your family hydrated plus you can carry a decent amout of stuff on them. And they're not clunky on rides.

BF and I decided for next trip (Aug) we would get a backpack. We looked at ones that would be ok for both of us to carry (not too girlie :rotfl2: ). LL BEAN has a new pack..it is 19.99 and many color choices. Lightweight and can fold up into itself too! Has places for water bottles as well. We are both satisfied with this choice.

Is LL BEAN just from a website, are they sell this product in the mall and what store carries this line?

I don't think you can get it in stores except for the LL Bean store (not many of them) but you can get online and if you do a google search you can find a free shipping coupon!

Whoever said their husband begged to wear a fanny pack... I envy you. I tried to buy one for us, and my DBF freaked out (I think he thinks they're tacky or something, in a really scary way). He's insisting he's going to carry a backpack the whole time... but I'm sure I'll end up carrying it. Oh well. Good luck on your search!
