Help! I want to bring our digital camera and our camcorder and keep them in a backpack while we ride, but my husband says that they will be stolen. What does everyone else do???

This past trip we opted to keep the digital video camera at home...next time it is coming with us...you can take the back pack on the rides (most of them) if he thinks they may be stolen. We had backpacks, baby bag etc...things were left in them, and they weren't stolen...

I was nervous about leaving stuff in them, but you can't take everything on the rides....

Maybe I'm confused. Don't you plan on taking the backpack on the ride with you?

I did not know you could take backpacks on the rides. How big of an item can you take on the rides?

The only ride I can think of that you can't take it on is Kali River Rapids at AK. There would be too much risk of your cameras getting wet. Splash Mountain is not as much of a problem, although you'll probably want to put your cameras in zip-loc bags or something. But Kali River Rapids is REALLY drenching.

I usually put my backpack on the floor between my feet and hook my legs through the straps.

You can take backpacks on all rides.

Most people buy a small light nylon backpack or similar and have a nice big plastic bag in there. Pack it very lightly (ounces feel like pounds by the end of the day). When you go on a ride - even on RnR and ToT- put one leg through the straps and put the straps above your knee. If you've made sure everything is zipped up - everything will be fine. Lots of people do this - works fine.

I carried a backpack on all the rides (we didn't do any wet ones) and it was not a problem. On rides our 3 year old couldn't do hubby took the pack.

Is your camera a still or a movie? We got a great fanny pack for our digital movie camera. Space for extra battery, tapes.... Hubby wore it most of the time. Wasn't a problem for any of the rides. He hardly knew he had it.

I carried my pack everywhere on all rides. I carried our video cam and my SLR camera. I suggest placing a small hand towel (or something soft) in the bottom to add some padding incase you forget what your carrying and plunk your bag down somewhere.

Thanx to all who replied. That info helped tremendously!!!
29 days and counting!!!! :earseek:
