I have already applied and interviewed for the college program, but had to fill out extra paperwork regarding the background check, (a juvenile offense about 7 years ago) has anyone else been through this process and been accepted?

How much do the background checks effect the outcome of the application process?

:confused3

hmm, I take it that no one else has dealt with this before...

*crosses fingers*

Being convicted of a crime does not necessarily mean that you will not be hired. Each case is considered on a case-by-case basis.

Being truthful on your applications is a good start. Lying on any application for employment is never a good thing

I've been very open with them about it from the beginning. It was a juvenile offense (stupid teenager syndrome haha), and I feel as if I showed them in my interview that I am very much qualified.

I just haven't been able to find anyone who has been through this process, and wondered as to how it worked out for them.

This is my last chance to do the college program, so I am the most anxious I have been in my life at this point. Haha.

Yep, the only person who is supposedly able to get these records is me, or perhaps the judge presiding over my case.

Also, it isn't technically a conviction, in the state of Kentucky, a juvenile is not convicted but is considered an adjucated delinquent, and is given a set of requirements to complete by a given date, once those are completed the record is closed.

So I really didn't have to answer "yes" to the conviction question on the appliction, but upon talking to Disney reps, they said it would be best to go ahead and disclose such information in case it did come up for whatever reason.

It's a sticky situation when the application says to disclose all criminal history even if the court system has told you it would be inaccessable to outside parties.

I have a less than stellar driving record including two major traffic violations in the past five years. Virginia classifies them as criminal misdemeanors. My interview was on 2/17 and I filled out the paperwork the next day, it took over a month and a half, but I received my acceptance letter, if your convictions aren't severe enough you have a shot, it'll just take some extra time

Thanks! I appreciate your answer. You are the first person that I have heard from that has had to fill out the extra paperwork. I interviewed on March 9th, so I'm just about to hit the month mark.

Thanks again!

My friend was in a similar situation to yours, she had a juvenille record and she had to fill out some extra background check paperwork and send it off. She was also worried that she wouldn't be accepted, but just last week she got her acceptance letter in the mail! She'll be doing Merchandise starting in May! So I really wouldn't worry about it, I'm sure you'll be fine! :)

I'm Main Entrance Ops. I don't really care what park I get, though I do lean towards wanting MK (I'm sure a lot of people do). I arrive 8/18, though I don't know what apartment complex I want yet...

Just read your post, so I'm a little late, but Congrats on getting in. I too had to go through the same process you did for my program a few years ago. Had to fill out all that paper work and mail it back etc. Get ready to fill out some more stuff about it on check in day. You'll be good tho.

Oh, and go for Vista Way ;)
