Backdating Points

Quick question...
Is DVC still back dating the first years points to the start of the year for new members.

We were there in December, and did not "pull the trigger". We still regret it.
We have finally decided to put off some home renovations, and purchase within the next few weeks.
In December DVC was going to back date the first years points to June/2013 for our 2013/2014 point year.

Now we are in March/2014 was wondering if DVC was doing the same thing?

If I am reading this correctly, what you were going to receive was your current use year points. If you have a June use year and buy in December you should receive the points for that year, and then another allotment the next June. In order to be truly "back dated" you would have to receive points for the year before. That does not happen. Make sure you read up on everything before you buy in.

DVC has always offered contracts with points from the current Use Year. At this time, you can purchase contracts with points from the March, 2013 Use Year - but you'd better hurry as they will only be available for another week at least through DVC directly while you could find resale purchases with points banked from the March, 2013 Use Year.

They are not really "backdating" anything - these are simply the points from the current use Year. Right now, you would NOT be able to purchase a contract with current points from the February, 2013 Use Year, but all other 2013 Use Years will likely be available at least for the resorts actively being sold.

Disney usually gives you current UY points with your purchase. They do sometimes run out of current UY points, particularly if someone is purchasing very late in their UY.

If you want to purchase a June UY contract, you are currently in your June 2013 UY so that will be your first set of points provided you purchase no later than May 31, 2014. If you purchase after that date (and before June 1, 2015) you would be in your June 2014 UY so that would be the first set of points.

Disney also pro-rates the first year's dues starting from your purchase date (or the later of the occupancy date or start of your initial UY if purchasing new construction).

There have been times for new properties where they set a limit of which UY would get the extra points and which would not though it wouldn't apply at this points for VGF. One should get the current UY points even if bought on the last day and for retail, could bank those on the last day of the UY.
