We stayed at POFQ from 9/23-10/1. We love this resort and were not disappointed. I didn't get my building request but I didn't let it bother me too much.

General observations:
-It was hotter than I expected. I knew it would be warm but I didn't realize it would still be so brutal in the sun in late Sept. Maybe my next trip should be in the winter! :rotfl2:

-The dining plan was awesome. Nevermind the fact it was free-it was sooo much food and very easy to use. Favorite TS: LeCellier. Least favorite: Tonys (the service was HORRIBLE). I also give a big thumbs up to Ohana'a character breakfast.

-Crowds were non-existant in the morning. We got to stay on several rides since no one was waiting. It got busier in the afternoon but not unbearable.

-Soarin is FANTASTIC!

-I found the cast memebers to be wonderful. Very pleasant and helpful. Now if I could get some of the other parents there to act the same..... :rolleyes1

Feel free to ask questions

Sounds like you had a great time, glad you had good meal at LeCellier and in a way glad to hear I'm not only one with a problem at Tony's. :goodvibes :wizard: :wave2:

The service at Tony's was so slow it was unbelievable. I had to leave, and skip dessert, to take the kids to the parade at almost 8pm even though we had a 6:10 ADR. My DH stayed to settle the bill which was then all messed up. They had charged another table's meal to us!

I see the sad face in your title...I feel the same way! We were there the 24th-28th (too short). It was VERY hot, but like you said the lines for rides were really low, hardly any wait. I tried to convince myself the heat was the trade off for no line waits! :)
I have to agree, Soarin' was great!! We didn't even need a fastpass like we thought. We basically walked right on.
We tried Tony's last time, never again.
I guess we can be sad together :wave2: :(

How hot is very hot?? We leave Monday 10/3 for 10 days WOOOHOOO  and was wondering what the average temp was?

Just shorts and t-shirts or tank tops? Any input would be greatly appreciated!! Welcome home...I'm going to my other home on Monday :rotfl:

My mom is in Florida, we're going next week - HOT HOT HOT with some humidity thrown in, think mid to upper 90's

It has still been in the 80's up here in Chicago I can imagine what it must be like at WDW with the humidity. Hopefully it will be comfortable weather the beginning of November when we arrive,

I'm talking 90's and humid. Shorts and tank tops are a must. I'm not a person who sweats very much but I did this past week!

Me, too. We got home yesterday and although we had a wonderful time the heat was killer. We will go in the winter next time.

And we agree about Tony's.

Didn't you just love POFQ resort!? We stayed there the second week of this past June. I really liked it and was impressed with the food court and decor. Don't know where you were but the intimacy of the resort made it really easy for us. It was fun just walking around.

Was pretty hot in June also. Summer in Florida can be a real "killer". And summer tends to extend all the way to October... :goodvibes

We just got back as well.

Agree that the heat was pretty intense. Not too bad once I switched to shorts and t-shirt as standard uniform, but still very hot. My 1 yo overheated quickly on some days, but the older kids took it well.

Dining plan was overall very good.
  • Agree about Tony's. They were very slow and food was so-so. They gave us a "front of the line pass" for our trouble. Too bad there were no lines that evening.
  • Spoodles was good, except for the fact that their glasses seems like they shatter if you look at them cross-eyed. Obviously most convenient if you are staying at the Boardwalk, but you might try to catch it for a meal if you find yourself of the MGM/Epcot boat.
  • Agree about LeCellier. Service was awesome. The waitress was personable and attentive. Our waitresses name was "Stefany" if you want to ask by name. :)
  • Service as Akershus was also pretty good. I'd try something else than the Pasta Akershus for an entree if I were to do it again, but the buffet has some decently yummy selections for adults. The kids were none too impressed, but most of them were there to see the Princesses.
  • Dining plan was generally convenient, but there were some hang-ups you might never see if you don't have our situation: we were there with the MiL, SiL, a neice and three nephews. We often found ourselves covering for each others kids, which most places had no problem with. But Akershus didn't want us to charge one more kid to our plan than it dictated. The concierge fixed it later, tho.

We had few problems with the crowd & lines, except some times at magic kingdom in the afternoon. Still, when there was a sizeable line at splash mountain, I fast-passed it and took our 4 yo on big thunder mountain, and everything was golden.

Mom2FebGirls and our 4yo loved Soarin' too. I thought it was okay for a ride or two, but that's it. Mission Space is what it's all about to me, baby!

Agree that cast members were generally helpful. They must train them not to get bogged down in bureacracy. I went to get myself a wristband at a convenient station but didn't have the cards for two kids with me; they shrugged it off and got all of us wristbands.

We also got home today... The lines were awesome.. Mornings were a peice of cake, afternoons a little busier, but only about a :15min wait. Sept. 25-Oct 1. First night of the food & wine festival Soarin had an hour wait for most of the evening (remedied with a fast pass). Weather was great between 88-90. Got an early start at the parks and enjoyed the hottest part of the day at the pool.
We had never been to the food/wine festival and was a little dissappointed with the prices for the items offers. My husband paid $7.50+tax for an Octoberfest beer in Germany.
Fantastic vacation with very short lines that was great!!! We have been the second week in Sept. and Nov. but preferred this time of the month better :earsboy:
Now that vacation is done, I don't have anything to obsess over :earseek:

I also love PO! But my experiences at Tonys and Le Cellier seem reversed! I've always gotten great fast service at Tonys. With Le Cellier, service was great, the soup was great, but I got a soft shell crab sandwich and it tasted like the only batter they used was salt. I must have had 4 glasses of water...
Glad everyone had a great time!

We do love POFQ. It's so pretty and so much smaller than the other moderate resorts. The last thing I want to do when I come back from the parks is have to walk anymore! :rotfl:

I agree. I'm already having withdrawals and DH doesn't seem too keen on going back anytime soon.
