Someone said this ride had gone from Universal now - no no no no no not fair - please tell me it's not so - or at least that they replaced it with something fantastic....

Tessa

It has indeed gone, to be replaced by a Simpson's themed attraction some time next year.

NO!!!!

that really is bad news - Back to the future was my favourite ride - in ALL the parks - the only sim where I didn't get motion sickness!!!!!

Thanks - at least I won't be looking forward to it for 11 more months, only to be disappointed. Gone to sit in the corner and eat worms...

Tessa

I know I hate it when they do that!!! Even though Back to the future wasn't my favourite I wish they would tell you a coulpe of years in advance that they will be closing a ride - then at least you'd have time to say a proper goodbye!!!

I am still in mourning about King Kong as that was my all time favourite - I haven't been to Universal since as I don't want to go on its replacement as I feel that's disloyal to the gorilla!!!! - by the way is it any good?????!!!!

We had about 8 months notice about this one its been discussed on here since last July and it didn't close until 30th March. We had chance to ride it at Xmas for the last time but didn't bother, it was well past it's sell by date. It was good a few years back but was time to move on. Hope the Simpsons ride is better even though I am not a Simpson fan I will try it.

I cant say that Back to the future ride has gone upsets me. It was getting old and I had so many bruises from that ride.

If you have not been on Spiderman then I suggest that one. Its excellent and far best ride I have been on in IOA and US.

That's a real shame I loved this ride and the car outside!! Is that still there? I'm presuming it will have gone too... if it wasn't for the Mummy ride I don't think I would be rushing back to Universal...

I loved King Kong too but the mummy ride is pretty good!!

I liked back to the future but it was far to rickety and definately needed updating! Hope the Simpsons ride is good!

The DeLorean was still there at Easter and Doc was still wondering about for photo shoots.
Apart from Magic Kingdom Universal is still better than Disney for us.:goodvibes

I think we were spoilt because there were no queues for anything so we had finished in half a day! My other half loved Islands of Adventure but I think the rides were a bit too big for little ol' me. Plus I got dripping wet through on the rapids... in white shorts!!

Any photo's? :lmao: :rotfl2:

In a 2 week holiday we can easily spend 2 half days just in Curious George.
Don't know why but just love Universal, seen Horror make up show about 12 times but still could watch it another 12, think nothing of going on Mummy 5 or 6 times each visit. Takes us at least 2 days to do the 1 park

The car is still outside, and I thought rather cheekily (sp?) so is the shop! and the steam train from the third film. The ride building was boarded up in a rather low key way. apart from shrek4, curious georges playground and jimmy neutron for the girls we gave universal a big thumbs down.
It was quiet and we felt they held us waiting to go into rides as they didn't want to run them too often.
Due to sickness in the group we didn't get to IOA, we felt we wasted a day at US if we had known we would have gone to IOA instead and went into US rode shrek4D and jimmy neutron and left!

Hi PoppyAnna
What ages are your children? Did you not try all of list below?,(I probably missed some also) We have had AP's for past 4 years now, DS is 12, so from age 8 we have been going regularly and like I say prefer here to Disney parks with the exception of MK, maybe your children are a bit young? but if they are younger I would say even less for them in IOA the US.
Hopefully you will try it again in a few years and enjoy it more.:goodvibes

My little girls are (just)4 and 19mo.
We did:
Twister - awful as I remember it to be.
Shrek4d - Eldest loves Shrek - we ALL thought it was great.
Earthquake - Took eldest on it, she wasn't thrilled by it one way or another (nor were we).
Jaws - Eldest like it.
Men in Black - Fun time was had.
Revenge of the Mummy - Too young
Terminator 2 - Too young
E.T. Adventure - not working :confused3
Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast - All loved it
Animal Actors On Location! - didn't do it
FEAR FACTOR LIVE - didn't do it
Woody Woodpecker's Kidzone - liked that, but staff watched us queing for the raft slide and didn't tell us until we got to the top that they thought our youngest wasn't strong enough to sit up on her own and go down with my DH.
Okay, I'm all for safety but she's well over average height for her age and although petite I think she could have gone on it.
A Day in the Park with Barney - They don't do "silly" Barney :confused3
BeetleJuice's Rock 'n' Roll Graveyard Revue - Doesn't appeal
Horror Make-Up Show - Doesn't appeal
Lucy - A Tribute - Doesn't appeal
The Blues Brothers - Not with a 4 and a 1 year old

I would suggest going back in about 6 years and trying again.
I was same as you first time thinking doesn't appeal like Graveyard review and Horror make up, now we do them everytime we go.
Terminator and Mummy are the best 2 there. Fear factor and Animal actors are also worth seeing.
I think when they are older they will enjoy it but we are all different, you know what you like. Our son loved Barney aged 4 but he owned every video and we went to see him at Sheffield arena.
Good thing everyone doesn't like US as much as us though or it would be as busy as Disney:goodvibes

You are right, it doesn't suit our childrens ages at the mo.
We enjoyed it more as a couple, we loved Terminator before and Mummy we would have liked to do but we were more interested in showing one of the girls a good time and taking her on as much as she could possibly get on - time ran out!

I'm trying to sneak a cheapy trip next year and I think we will stay on Disney property, ditch the car and concentrate on showing the girls Disney at a really slow pace, as we felt we didn't cover as much that was suitable as we could have.
Trouble is other half LOVES IOA and I feel sorry for him that he didn't get there in a two week trip.

Pick the same weeks as us, You take my wife to Disney (she's a Nursery Nurse so good with the kids), I will take your other half to IOA.:lmao: :rotfl2: Everyones happy.

its a shame back to the future is gone, and kongfrontation, i loved them they were like my childhood rides! and the old hanna-barbera ride that went quite a while ago now, i think it was where jimmy neutron is, i loved that aswell:( xxxx

Horror Make-Up Show - Doesn't appeal

This didn't appeal to us either so we didn't get round to visiting it until our third trip. It was the funniest thing I've seen - I had tears rolling down my face because I was laughing so much.

Oh talking about all those rides - makes me remember why Universal was always my favourite park - we haven't been for years though!!

We are going back again next May with our 4yr old and 8mth old baby - Is it worth going?? I don't really remember the childrens play areas (being a twenty something adult with no kids - I didn't tend to spend much time at those!!!)

Do you think my 2 children will enjoy it ??? - I'd love to see Shrek, Mummy & now the Simpsons, as they are all new since I last went - would we need to do those without the kids???? Is there baby switch???
