Back to School Bargain Thread

Not sure if this was posted yet, but I just got back from walmart. They are getting the back to school stuff out. I didn't look at much, but picked up crayola crayons for .25 (24 count.)

The walmart near me hasn't started putting out school stuff yet, but the prices are reflecting when scanning items in the regular aisles. I went in for my stockpile of composition books, all were marked .95 but rang in at .25 (no .15 here :sad1: ), the B&W as well as colored (pebble looking) were all included. :thumbsup2

sub...

The other day I had to pick up a 24 pack of crayola... how annoying knowing they are going to be $0.25 in a month! :headache:

not only do I shop for my own children, but our PTA does school supply packs that we sell and you're truly is in charge of that... so I get to shop for 300 kids!!

Last year I purchased over 10,000 pencils :rotfl:

Last year. I had to purchase backpacks and school supplies for 1,400 kids in 2 school districts for community give-aways. Lots of work, but totally worth it.

I'm in. Two in middle school now. The cost of binders alone could feed a small country for a year!

for those looking for basics...
Children's Place has socks on sale 10/10.00!
we need white crew socks for the uniforms and the boys white socks are the nicest ones out there.
they come down to .72 each if you use the 20% code and 10% Place perks
also get 3% thru ebates!

I'm in! We'll have a kindergartner and 2nd grader (and a preschooler, but she doesn't need anything) in the fall. My 2nd grader got her supply list for fall with her last report card for 1st grade. Its nice knowing ahead of time, so now I can stock up at the sales.

Walgreens usually has a deal on binders. Still kind of expensive, but cheapest I have found (for the larger size ones like 3").

I am in. My DD is entering school this year and DH and I are both teachers..we like to make sure we have as much as we can to give to our students.

Back to school shopping!!!!! Noooooooooooo, we just got out of school barely over a week ago!! I'm not ready to think about the end of the summer already, but the kids go back at the end of August. I do love a great deal on those school supplies, so keep 'em coming!

We went to Target last night I was able to pick up three pair of jeans at 2.48 each. They are Target's brand and there was a big rack of them but they didn't have a lot in our sizes.

I just got back from American Eagle today and they had 30% off clearance price. They had lots of shirts for under $5 plus you get the 30%. DD and DS weren't with me so I only got 2 shirts and a sweater and only spent $12! I am taking them with me this weekend to shop some more! I also got a $10 off coupon good next week with a $40 purchase.

Don't forget the supplies for the house too. The school supply lists are usually just for what to bring in to the classroom, and those supplies live at school.

I am a teacher and I don't have a homeroom, but when I did, I supplied all the in-class stuff but asked the parents to provide a "homework toolkit" to be left at home for use when doing homework. The list (first grade) was:

Pencils
Erasers
Pencil sharpener (the little hand-twist ones)
Crayons
Glue/Glue sticks
Child scissors

Other ideas are markers, colored pencils, pens, white out, and a calculator.

I did supply my students with a quart size ziplock bag to keep their "toolkit" in, and I started them off with the sharpener, a few cute erasers, and a "Welcome to First Grade" pencil.

I also suggested they stock up at the beginning of the year when there were sales so they could re-stock later, since it was usually necessary around mid-year.

Starting today, TRU has in their ad buy a backpack and get a lunchbox (up to 9.99 value) free. They also have 25% off lunch accessories like the thermoses.

It may not be the best value yet to come but its still not too bad.:thumbsup2

ok, i just got back from my weekly errands, and there were no school supplies out yet at MY wal-mart, but i did get the latex gloves DD needs to contribute for science class on sale at walgreens w/ the coupon from page 14 of the circular (got two 50 count boxes for $6.00-one box of 50 was $6.99 at wal-mart!).
also got three 5.00 t-shirts at aeropostale, 2 t-shirts at AE for a total of $15-something, and 3 pairs of shorts at academy sports for $30.00! whew! what a day!

I ordered 6 Lands End polos for DH for back to school last week. They were 30% off and had free shipping. It ended up being $54 for 6 shirts!:cool1: They are usually $15 each. He attends a private school, so we have to buy specific uniforms.
