Ugh! Back to work today.....was a nice visit to the world but was much more crowded than I expected. We had a long 2 day van ride down (driven mostly by me - about 1300 miles one way) Thursday & Friday (4/19 - 4/20). We arrived much earlier than expected on Friday (due to the fact we left our motel room at the ungodly hour of 10 minutes to 3am
) and went to the Belz outlet store that day. Our first surprise was there, they had torn down all of building #3 where we usually hit the Disney store, so just the location at Building #2 was open. Found several bargains and was able to cross off most of my souvenier list for the people I work with and friends.
Our first day at the parks was at Epcot. Once again, they have outdone themselves with the Flower & Garden Festival. We spent most of the day in Future World, riding Test Track, the green line at Mission:Space (which I enjoyed more than the regular line), Ellen's Energy Adventure and the Living Seas pavilion. We then headed over to the Electric Umbrella for lunch (burgers)and over to World Showcase, hitting Mexico, Norway and China (China for dinner - Norway for pastries with my new favorite School Bread). My dad was worn out by 6pm, so we drove back to our motel and skipped IllumiNations.
Day 2 was at the Magic Kingdom, which was packed. We did a lot of people watching - my mom's favorite hobby - and some shopping (my favorite hobby). My dad & I rode Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, Pirates, Tomorrowland Transit Authority, loved the Monsters show!, Buzz Lightyear (with my mom) and the train. Much too busy to get to any characters without a long wait and much too hot to do much else. I got a free ice cream cone from a CM at Auntie Gerdie's - was a really nice surprise - and we at at the Tomorrowland Terrace (hot dogs) for lunch. Once again, we left early. I really wanted to stay for Wishes, but it was fine going back to the motel.
Day 3 was our "off" day - shopping at Wal Mart, 99 cent store and Super Target. I had brought 3 cameras on this trip and managed to break 2 of them and my mom broke the 3rd!
So, I bought another camera at SuperTarget as well as a 3 year service plan for $19. We ate a leisurly lunch at a Chinese Buffet and had a nap and a relaxing rest of the day.
Day 4 was back to Epcot. We finished up with Future World, with Journey into Your Imagination (and got to see Figment - very cute pics), Honey I Shrunk the Audience and over to Living Seas to take a picture of me as "Shark Bait" with Bruce the Shark! I then proceeded to World Showcase hitting Canada first to attempt to get pics & autographs with characters, while my parents sat at the Catina in Mexico. I found Alice, Pooh, Tigger & Piglet in the UK; Belle and Aurora in France; Snow White in Germany; Aladdin and Jasmine in Morocco; Mushu and Mulan in China (my all-time favorite Princess)and practically wore out my Crocs. After picking up my parents in Mexico, we then proceeded across the lagoon again, from Mexico back to Canada (did I mention I was tired!?!
). By 7pm, we were way too worn out to stay again for fireworks (drat), back to the motel we went.
I will finish up Day 5 and my observations tomorrow.....must go to the bank, post office, mow the grass, pass out.......More later.
